Nice!

yummygooey 12-19-11 05:58 PM

Today I went on a ride with a dude from my home town that I met on flickr. He showed up on a MTB and was still killin' it on our road ride.

Then I ate a crap ton of sushi with some buddies.

And then found out my eye prescription didn't really get much worse in the past two years.

I also realized that as much as I love riding the new road bike, there's nothing quite like a track bike.

hamfoh 12-19-11 06:06 PM

falling in love with these 172.5 cranks. I feel like the power transfer is a big difference, though it can't possibly be that significant, can it? I feel like I start hauling ass so fast. a

PlattsVegas 12-19-11 06:23 PM

Hamfoh, what crank length did you previously have? I noticed a huge difference in power transfer between 170's and 160's. 175's on the BMX accelerates like crazy

Dannihilator 12-19-11 06:31 PM

Today was the first time in quite awhile that I went for a road ride. Was lucky in that when wiping the bike down, found a nice big cut in the tire.

hamfoh 12-19-11 06:40 PM

170

yummygooey 12-19-11 08:10 PM

Oh yea, today I found out I'm going to be the grader for the introductory fluid mechanics class next semester. Lol. Should be fun. I'm going to draw smiley faces!

Maybe I'll draw them a slanty face or a sad face.

Jaytron 12-20-11 12:49 AM

Today I researched XACD bikes, because of yummy's build.

jimmytango 12-20-11 01:11 AM

Hey Jay, were you successful in the suppage? I'm curious to know how it worked out.

Today was awesome. Work was cake, and afterward I hung out with the most amazing person I know, napped, read a couple books about the history of my neighborhood, and am going to bed at a reasonable hour. Yeah, today rocked.

Decepticondc5 12-20-11 01:35 AM

today I put on a front 105 brake.

need to know: tiemeyer or yamagucci?

after some research, i'm thinking it's definitely tiemeyer, perhaps triple triangle, but defininately not a yamaguchi unless yamaguchi made crownlug forks there.

LesterOfPuppets 12-20-11 02:44 AM

Nice! Does it say "Garner" on the steerer there?

cc700 12-20-11 02:47 AM

yes. 135x26 which i'm assuming are the ht length and threading diameter. jason garner? doubt it would be lucy.

hamfoh 12-20-11 05:07 AM

today my Rush frameset finished bidding on eBay, went for a bit lower than I hoped ;(

cc700 12-20-11 05:08 AM

yeah no one is buying track bikes. i don't buy them thinking i'll sell them. trend is dead, and cheap visps are readily available to people with no taste.

yes i loved my visp.

I didn't even pull the cog out of the bag, but I didn't notice any RG branding on the actual cog. One is for a friend(running some stupid tall ratio like 53/16) who thinks the cog looks cool. The other is for me to swap things around with. I was originally running 46/16 and wanted a little lower, switched to 46/15 and it felt a little too low. Now I'm running 46/17 and it's fun but I'm not sure that I'll like it once it warms back up, so I figure I'll try 46/16 again. It gives me 8 skid patches that I won't use since I don't skid.

I'm in a similar boat. I run 46/16 right now and would like to get a fixed/fixed hub so I could run both xx/15 and xx/17 on the same wheel. I figured I need a new hub since I can't even replace the cog at the moment (****ing goofy formula spline technologiez).

And why no skid? I do it because its fun and I run a thickslick on the back, so I don't feel bad for destroying a cheap tire.

Partially because I haven't found a reason to; I've had no problem just slowing myself down for 98% of situations, and using my front brake for the rest. Partially because I'm running Gator Hardshells, and at $50/piece, I'd rather not have to buy new ones any time soon. Also partially that I simply haven't taken the time to teach myself.

hamfoh 12-20-11 09:50 AM

today I went to ship a frame Parcel Post (1 employee 5 days before xmas at USPS) - get up there (normal leader box) and they want $79 to ship it because it's oversized...

I leave, take it to UPS and ship it so it'll arrive Friday, get insurance, and pay $35
