Today I ditched the tri flow for some Pro Link. Cleaned and re-lubed my chain and it feels/sounds soooo much smoother. Also made my rounds through three local bike shops while I'm in town. It amazes me that you can spend 15 minutes looking around a shop with many employees and few customers and not even be acknowledged. The two others were great service though. It just gets annoying living in a town that's obsessed with DH/Freeride bikes cause the selection of road and track parts is so tiny.

Dannihilator 12-26-11 08:49 PM

You should give DH/Freeride a shot, it's really fun.

Today I got in a good street session, got home got changed and put in 30 miles on the 930.

Today I:
Completed my first ever century with two guys from Rapha. 105.9miles with 7713 feet of climbing. Day number 3 of the Festive 500. I'm at 393/500kms!

Going up the Pt. Reyes station -> Bofax -> Seven Sisters climb. Hard to tell but that is about 10% grade.

Stop riding while I'm injured, or else I'll have to level the playing field manually.

EDD Called wonder why I didn't show up for my appointment, I told them it was because I got a job already.

This is how I felt:

Today it was christmas for my SIDIs. New velcro, gave them a cleaning, rebuilt the lugs with shoe goo.

Good job on the rollers, work on your spin some more and you can get really smooth.
You pedal pretty low in the saddle, reminds me of how the Belgian racers set up.

Here's some roller inspiration- keirin training

OH CRAP THAT'S FAST!! What do you mean by pedaling low in the saddle? It looks like my saddle is at a low height?

cruiserhead 12-27-11 11:28 AM

No, it's a pedalling style. Some people pedal 'low in the saddle' (Belgian style because that's kind of common with Belgian racers.)
French ride "high in the saddle" and people sometimes develop that pedalling style because it's a "classy" stroke.
There are several common pedalling styles.

It's best to do what comes natural and develop a good spin- It's called "souplesse". Like the Keirin racer in the video, it's the effortless, perfectly smooth, high power pedal stroke.

(or not, doesn't matter if you are not racing or care about it. It just makes you a more efficient cyclist.)

*btw, I'm not saying one style is better than the other. Lots of famous racers have different styles.
Go with what feels natural and just work on your spin- that's all I'm saying.

Today I decided I'm going to leave work early and spend my Christmas money on some Performance rollers. Really happy to find a local store so I can return them if I hate them.

I'm skeered.

EpicSchwinn 12-27-11 08:41 PM

Yay roller twinz!!

Today I bought a new jacket and some skinnies. Feels good man. Jacket came from a local clothing company (Casual Industrees) too.

Carried 40lbs of raw hamburger meat in my bag.

cc700 12-27-11 09:08 PM

got a bike rack (HAWESOME) then got priced for a new set of tires on the car (HAWKWARD) and bought a refurbished wheel replacement for my mismatched wheel on ebay... super cheap hope it works out.

pretty sketch.

Wow, I will never think that I am spinning fast, not compared to those guys.

Let's see, went to work and met this quarter's group of students for my job. Worked, came home to snack a bit, felt the soreness really kick in from ab ripper x yesterday, clipped the fingernails (which will go in my wife's vermicomposting bin), went for a nice 10 miler with my wife.

Bout to head out to the grocery store to get some food.

It's okay, all packages were sealed. Any crash/mishap could've caused a pretty epic raw meat explosion though.

cc700 12-27-11 09:32 PM

bout peddlin

bbattle 12-27-11 09:49 PM

Today I ran down the driveway to retrieve the newspapers and set out the garbage cans in the rain. Too damn wet and cold to do any riding today and my son-on-law STILL has my San Jose.

Seriously considering riding my step-daughter's hybrid to her house and getting my Bianchi back. They probably have my bike inside, locked up. AAaaarrgh!

Meanwhile, my Who marathon continues. The dog is not amused.
