PM your cell. I'll text ya next time. Some Rapha dudes and I are doing a test ride for a route tomorrow. It's posted on SF fixed. ~20 mile loop around the city with beer at the end of the rainbow. Mmmmm, beer.

Today I/we(Jaytron): Finished building my 722. I'll update my build thread with more picks but here are are a couple to wet the pallet.

Ready to try my first tape job:

The stable:

p.s. DO NOT BUY Swobo seat posts. Their one-bolt system blows hardcore. Mine keeps slipping (no matter how hard I tighten it) into a nose-tiled-up position. Heading to the bike shop on my lunch break to get a better one (two-bolt) tomorrow. Good thing it was free.

Can I show up with my sw8t fixxie and be able to keep pace? I looked at the route and it has more elevation changes for a ride than I'm used to. The reason I ask is that one time I showed up to an SFFixed ride and everyone else was on a road bike and had partial or full kits. I kept pace for a bit, but dipped early because it was too much effort for me to keep up.

They said it was a test ride (implied casual pace, also a night ride), and I think a few of them are taking their fixed gears out.

misskaz 01-30-12 11:03 AM

Today I rode my first commute (other than bringing it home) with my new Mission Workshop Rambler. Woo. Forgive the crappy PhotoBooth pic and ugly office background.

In the sense that I wear a lot of their clothing, go on their group rides, know everyone that works there (SF Cycle Club), did the Festive 500 challenge, and have a mug in the shop with my face on it, yes. In the sense that they sponsor me or employ me in some way, no.

yummygooey 01-30-12 12:25 PM

That's pretty cool.

Taking the bag home last week, I didn't bother putting on the waist belt (it's a separate thing). The load felt wobbly and unstable. This morning I used it for the first time and it was way better. I also felt like my back/hips were carrying more of the load, giving my shoulders a break. About the same weight in the bag for the two rides, although it was definitely packed better this morning and I'm sure that was part of it. I think the bag is pretty big on me (although not too big) and that might make the waist belt more of a factor as well. The chest strap doesn't adjust small enough to do me any good but the waist belt does.

If you mean the waist belt, I assume so. I extensively researched these bags and a LOT of people say that it's well worth it. Mostly helpful for walking in my opinion though.

jdgesus 01-30-12 01:03 PM

waist/lap

me fail english that's unpossible

Today I had an opportunity come up to move into a really nice apartment in the building where I work. I get a 75% employee discount. I'm contemplating it, but I'm really not sure about it because then I wouldn't get to bike my commute anymore, and I think would really miss those 15 daily miles. What do you guys think?

TMonk 01-30-12 03:06 PM

You know you can still ride a bike without commuting.

Believe it or not, you can still ride 15 miles/day too.

If you would be saving quite a bit more money then you currently are through this deal, seems like it would be worth checking out.

And like TMonk said, you can still ride 15 miles anyway.

xavier853 01-30-12 03:14 PM

Today I got a chance to ride the concept with my new zen ring, new eai cog, and new chain. Wow does the drivetrain feel better!
