Duuude, get yo'self a bike! There are a couple companies along the lake front path that rent (Bobby's Bike Hike and Bike and Roll Chicago being the two I can think of). Get a silly tourist bike and ride the lake front path!

Today I traded KiloTT's with Mucky. We're both pretty happy. Except I'm now brakeless, and his Affinity fork is not drilled for a front brake. I'm going to die.

We traded because he wanted to size down and I wanted to size up a bit.

I might die because I've never done brakeless. I mean I rarely use my brakes when riding fixed, but I think just not having the option freaks me out a little.

I think last week Muni actually ran some cyclist over that had fallen.

Yeah streetcar rails & cable car underground cable lines are pitfalls for narrow tires. Had a friend riding next to me and tracks and the cable opening swallowed his front wheel and he endoed completely out of the blue.

This sticker is relevant:

Just be super careful. Tons of ******** take that thing. Tri-geeks training, rollerbladers, dumbass pedestrians walking in the middle of it and turning blindly...

I feel the same way. When I went to Austin, my lever got jacked in shipping and I rode the first day with a zip-tie holding my brake lever together because no shops were open. Hills (I'm from Chicago. We don't have those), rain, darkness, an unfamiliar city, and a brake lever that was ghetto-rigged made for the scariest 10 miles I've ever ridden, even though I rarely actually use the brakes.

Sooo, I don't exactly have all of my original teeth because of trolley tracks...
They are not your friends. Stay far away.

his cardboard box ploy would fail with this crowd of mail order divas. the box would be slashed open immediately in hopes for some black anodized nitto crap.

Today was a very vehicular filled day. I drove to work for the first time in a very long time, it was fun. Fun except it was my wife's car and I totally forgot cars in university lots need permits. Came back to find a big fat ticket for parking w/o a permit in a staff spot under the wiper. Tacked an hour to my work day to get it cleared up.
Then I took the car to the audi dealer for scheduled maintenance (the reason I had it in the first place) where while I was waiting, I wandered into the showroom and a salesman approached me and tried to sell me another; it wasn't really effective as I ended up having the last word and a test drive in a R8.
