Today I achieved a new high speed on The Wasp: 29.3 MPH @ 69 GI. Not that impressive, but I'm getting more comfortable with letting 'er rip on downhills when the roads look good enough.
today I want to buy a torque wrench for working on my bike. there was some links going around in scrod's thread, but too lazy to dig it up. anyone? I want to take her apart and put her back together

Today I tested a Cross Check, Pacer, ***** Tonk, and Casseroll. Looks Like its gonna be a Casseroll...
EDIT: Stupid language filter. I can't even type the name of a certain bicycle from Kona without being censored. Good job bikeforums.

2nd edit: Can't link to it either. Nice.

Well it was yesterday not today, but riding out to the park to play some ultimate frisbee, going about 22mph I had a car shoot in front of me and take a sudden right turn. There was no time at all to stop so I tried to turn with the car, kind of checking it with my side and bouncing off (I've done it a few times successfully, although at lesser speeds) and I ended up ripping off their side mirror with my arm before going chin first into the ground. I got up knowing I had a few scrapes but excepting a round of sorries and riding the rest of the way out to the field. Instead I looked down to find my front rim destroyed. Everything else seems fine, although I'm taking the carbon fork into a bike shop tomorrow to make sure. Went to the doc today and he said I should have come in to get stitches on my chin but it was too late now, other than that I'm fortunate to only have minor scrapes.
I feel pretty bad for the driver, some 15 year old girl on her permit who might not be able to get her license for a while now. If it's just the front rim that is destroyed and the fork is okay I'll keep it out of insurance and off her record, ask for minimal money from them to replace it and the spokes. But let me tell you if insurance is paying for it, I'm going to milk that for everything I can

Why would you not report it? Kids need to learn how to drive. Other peoples lives are at stake here. I'd rather not have air-headed 15 year old girls in charge of operating 4,000lb crushing machines rolling right next to me.

that sudden right turn, after passing you, has nearly been the end of me twice. it's terrible because there's almost nothing you can do but turn with them at a really uncomfortable speed. I've been lucky, sounds like you were too based on how fast you were going

Sorry, I haven't got an economical one that I can endorse. I personally use a snap on digital one because I managed to get it for the cheap.
I do believe scrod recommended the craftsman one...

Glad you got away with only cuts and scrapes.

The chin doesn't have any pain and the scar will hardly be visible, especially since I aspire to have a decent beard for most of my life. The rim is ruined and it looks like 10ish spokes, I'll probably have a new tire thrown in too, so about $175 should cover it, not too bad really.
So yeah, tonight ended up being awful, though it started off well. I shaved off most of the pad of a finger and it won't stop bleeding. A friend that I never see anymore popped into my restaurant and, though it started off pretty well, it ended with my being told that we could no longer be friends and sitting in someone's front yard sobbing about it while my friend (ex-friend?) walked away. After that I went to a friend's birthday party but was late because I'd been hanging with the other person and everyone had left already. On the bright side, I got about 20 miles in today and I figured out exactly how sad my meds will let me get. It's now 6am, the sun is coming up, and I'm going to bed.
craftsman has some decent stuff
this one is your standard beam/dial one - $12
this one is a "clicky" type that makes a distinct click once youve reached the torque its set to, i prefer these because you dont have to look at the dial when youre wrenching - $80
the beam type typically have a low max torque (which isnt a big deal with bike wrenching), and the clicky ones sometimes have high minimum torque settings

Today I just rode a few miles, testing this new setup...I was kinda scared using these front R500, especially when the roads get a lil bumpy :s
today I tried to buy an Focus Izalco 3.0 Pro but my card wouldn't go through. called my bank: apparently they sent me a new one that i hadn't received and closed this one out yesterday. won't have it for 2 weeks and now I just have to hope it's still in stock in my size when it comes in ;_;
My pants used to fit me

Hi-five to that ****! Bacon is the font of all truth, wisdom, sweetness and light. Every restaurant I've cooked at , rustic italian, fine dining french -- hell 3-star classic japanese even -- has found a way to get bacon on the menu. And it always sells like hot cakes.
got the shipping notice for the last box of odds and ends for my SSCX build up on an '05 Ridley Crossbow frame.
probably going to take a couple days off work, which i haven't done in a long time, and camp out in the garage with music/beer and wrench the thing together.

Today I'm finding it very hard to resist defacing my bikes with those damn MASH stickers that came with the goodies yesterday.
