re: stretched lobes: only got up to 0ga. never noticed it on the bike, but on a motorcycle with a halfhelmet...yeah.

also, being the only bike commuter at work, i should expect it. but, again today:

"hey, bike guy, you know it's going to rain right?"

"um, yeah?"

"well?"

"well what? it's water, not tarantulas. if it starts raining tarantulas, then i've got some hard choices to make."

Yeah people love water. Water in their pools, water at the beach, water to drink or bathe in or shower with. Water water water.
But as soon as a few drops of it fall from the sky... RUN FOR IT!! HIDE!! LOOK OUT!!!

Today I'm happy because last night I took apart my wife's Schwinn's headset and degreased and regreased the bearings. The stem needed a few good raps with a mallet to break it free (little rust down there, TWSS). But yeah, always wondered what was inside of that head tube. Now I know. And now the wife has a much safer/better bike. I can't believe I didn't look at it sooner. It wasn't tightened enough to begin with, so the bearings were visible even before I took anything apart. They were bone dry too, and dirty. Luckily those old Schwinn bearings are built to last.

Today I received the following...

The seatpost is legit. Lightweight, solid, easily adjustable. Daddy likey.
The bell is alright. It sustains longer than I pee after a hard night of beer-drinking though. Seriously. I don't want it on my bike. I put it on the wife's Schwinn stem instead but it's just temporary. She might prefer her Incredibell too. No big deal though. I can get $5 or $10 on craigslist if I keep the original packaging and whatnot.

Also sold a stem on CL today. That's the 2nd one I've sold this week. Sold my stock bullhorns the other day too. Just $10-$15 per item but still, adds up. Helps fund other purchases.

Today I worked, rode home in a wonderful and ridiculous thunderstorm, and am currently drinking a Trappistes Rochefort 10. I love riding in storms. The rain is so refreshing after a day in the kitchen.

you are crazy, I tried bumping up the brightness- but it was overcast today in LA and my helmet camera sucks in low light.

Today I landed a (unpaid, womp-womp) gig writing record reviews for a local online magazine, and decided to stay in LA for longer than I had originally planned. Went out to local bar for a couple beers to celebrate and ended up downing five Racer 5s. I like to drink symmetrically.

edit- Also, FIRST POST ON 666TH PAGE. I WIN.
