prooftheory 07-19-12 09:21 AM

Today I am glad I am not a domestique. Froome got screwed.

I'm hangry now. Surrounded by delicious food that I can't eat because of my diet. Argh!!!

LessonLearned 07-19-12 10:07 AM

Well since the theme of the day is weight (and maybe therapy lol), it sucks being super thin. That's probably why I have so many tattoos. Because I can't grow muscles/mass. Seriously though, I hear a lot of overweight people say "oh I wish I was thin like you..." well, no, no you don't. People are visibly grossed out by my appearance when I go swimming. They stare. They point. When I go running in my neighborhood the kids yell "chicken legs! chicken legs! chicken legs!" at me. Luckily I'm tall because I'd probably get my ass kicked regularly if I wasn't. Okay that's the end of the pity party, the point is that it's no fun being so skinny that your "friends" make hunger/ethiopian/holocaust jokes because of the way you look.

prooftheory 07-19-12 10:09 AM

Now we see the source of LL's hatred of fat people.

LessonLearned 07-19-12 10:14 AM

I don't hate people based on their appearance. I don't care what color you are, or if you're fat skinny ugly disabled whatever. It's more behavioral than anything. I don't like the way a lot of people treat each other, and I don't like the way a lot of people disrespect just about everything they can. That's where my hatred comes from. But as long as I'm on my "meds" (herbs), all is good and the demons are kept at bay. :)

RGNY 07-19-12 10:20 AM

somewhat hangry.

restricting calories. taking the wife out to dinner later (Bosnian restaurant that does killer Northern Italian).

zoltani 07-19-12 10:27 AM

oh, my wife really brings out the hangerage on longer rides, lol

hockeyteeth 07-19-12 10:33 AM

Finishing a top end rebuild of the motorcycle engine and discovered I left out two tiny o-rings, so I had to pull the motor again today. Bummer. Hopefully be back on the road in a week or two.

But honestly, and I mean no offense, you seem to disrespect a lot of people. Also, if it had nothing to do with appearances, I don't think you'd mention that the people making your office cold are fat. You'd simply say that they were inconsiderate.

Fair enough. Never claimed to be perfect. Workin' on it though. That's the important thing. I'll call you out on your ****, you call me out on mine. That's how we'll all improve. The trouble is finding a tactful way to do the calling out so that it is seen as constructive, and thus becomes effective.

And again, I said sorry for the fatty comment. It's just something some of my friends say and it rubbed off on me apparently. Meant it to be funny, not so much as an actual jab at overweight people. As simple as I am, even I can understand that generalizing millions of people based on their weight/appearance is just plain stupid and wrong.

We say things around here to be funny or to get a rise out of people. Sometimes we cross the line. Today I crossed the line. Again, I'm sorry for the distasteful joke.

Damn, I missed page #666. Oh well, I'll just sum up 666 and 667 with this pic.

Today I woke up at 4:30AM after realizing in my sleep that I totally forgot about the honey do list that I supposed to have done yesterday. Was going to take the car but ended up kitting up and hammering some 30+ miles round trip to the nearest 24 hour walmart. Contact solution. Got back in time to cook up breakfast served in bed.

During the ride back I inferenced how bad the shrinkage must be in the stores in the bay area compared to here in san diego. To my surprise there was no sign of guards at the entrance as such in the 24 hour stores in the bay and I didn't have to rely on a potential idiot servant to retrieve the goods from the closed optical section that was only guarded by cloth belt line dividers @ the wee hours while in the bay the optical section was always guarded by retractable security walls used in glass storefronts even during main store hours.

The area you live in is like the San Diego County equivalent of Marin. I don't think you'd find the El Cajon or National City Walmart to be that different from the ones in SF.

jdgesus 07-19-12 12:09 PM

today I'm still sick.

how do you get a cold in the summer?

Really? Yeah, I'm a bit green around these parts. It's the one in Kearney Mesa; it's in a mixed commercial/ retail area but only a highway overpass away from a neighborhood that I wouldn't be outside at night. I don't usually shop there as it's also the closest walmart to my house being some 15+ miles away as the HOAs around my area won't tolerate the BS that comes with one.

How do you know what summer is living in Seattle?

prooftheory 07-19-12 12:20 PM

Actually once you get that far inland I wouldn't have made the same claim. That's like right by Miramar right? I go to San Diego as infrequently as my mother's guilt trips will allow these days.

LessonLearned 07-19-12 12:23 PM

Today I'm excited about the New Belgium Tour De Fat that hits my hood on Saturday. Which also just so happens to be the Logan Square street fest weekend with bands and booze and probably lots of bra-less women if the farmer's markets and other local street fests are a good indicator. #ilovemyneighborhood

Kaz? Bryan? You guys attending any of that? Anyone else going?

Yup and right next to convoy. So, in a crapshoot, the areas in SD degrade as you go further south? I've had colleagues who grew up in chula vista and reference it to growing up in the ghetto.
