Today I was reading the SF Chronicle and the header for the article on the last page of the front section made my day:

will do, its been in a basement since the late 80's so Im hoping the original paint and decals will be in good shape. guess I will have to wait and see. Its also reportedly has a nice shiny chrome fork

Mumonkan 09-12-12 05:39 PM

Today i found some of one of my professors actual "professional work" :

http://blubee.com/imageArchive/data/...nny_Swirls.jpg

Its a damn picture of his cat with a dumb photoshop filter on it. Aparently thats what it takes to "make it" in the business.

Yeah I remember the day my design teacher dropped the link to her website. I lost all respect for her after seeing it... it was a long semester trying to listen to her

Well, I hope it's all good. Most real tall frames I find are fairly cheap low end frames. My 67cm schwinn is a p.o.s. and my 70cm Fuji is decent but still low end - at least it has better geometry and all ChroMo tubing.

Whats funny, I had the same thing with one of my college professors. But my graphic design teacher in high school? That guy was amazing. So much talent to be teaching at a school in the middle of nowhere.

Art is weird like that, some people that have "made it" just make me ask why? I guess everyone has their own tastes though, who knows...

gotcha, I will have to see when i can physically get my hands on it. It will be fun to ride a bike that is more fitting however the quality is IMO

One prof here did do this pretty cool print on sheets of aluminum, using pictures he took on a road trip. He mounted a p&s camera under his rearview mirror, and took a photo every few miles. Then he put them all in photoshop, brought them down to like 1% transparency, and layered all of them over each other. All his other stuff in the exhibition was meh.

SS_Giant 09-12-12 06:03 PM

there must be some secret formula I'm not aware of that makes one successful enough to be "professional"

cc700 09-12-12 06:11 PM

watched a veritable master of all things bike mechanic glue up my tubulars so they don't roll like they did in my last cx race.

it's kind of crazy how easy you can make something look if you're insanely good at it.

That's hilarious. I worked in a camera store for years, and used to see all kinds of crap. One "professional" portrait photographer that used grow lights to shoot and didn't know why her colors were all weird. Or another one that had the money to drop on a Canon L lens but couldn't tell me which one she had until I showed her pictures from their brochure.

Mumonkan 09-12-12 06:30 PM

It might further entertain some of you that i posted that in his class sitting directly in front of him

SS_Giant 09-12-12 06:34 PM

yes.

I am contemplating taking intro to instagram fotography next semester

hairnet 09-12-12 07:14 PM

On of my former professors gets to do a lot of public art. This is kind of meh for what she has done. It's blurred long exposure shots of the SM ferris wheel organized to make a ferris wheel.

I only care because I work right there

RGNY 09-12-12 07:15 PM

tried to resist, tried Cinelli, but ended up taping the Nature Boy with Lizardskins in the end. just feels too good.

set the bike up for tomorrows commute, paid property taxes....urgh....and enjoying a beer before passing the !@#$% out.

picked up a wool jersey for $13. has a couple small moth holes, but i can darn those no problem.

Got the shelves built. They look pretty good. I still have to attach the plywood for the back, unfortunately I don't have a table saw and I'm kinda squeamish about trying to rip that board with a circular sword.

[EDIT]: Naaaah, on second thought I'll just leave that there.

SS_Giant 09-12-12 07:41 PM

any graf writers here...?

That's a great wool jersey, especially for 13 bucks!
