so, the gf's dad just bought a cervelo S2. He gave me a couple choices. I can sell his other two bikes, and keep 50% of what I can get for them.
or I can keep one, and sell the other. same 50%
They're both 61cm's.
2011 Specialized Secteur Comp Compact:
specs

2010 Raleigh Grand Sport:
specs

I don't really like the Specialized's geo... too upright for me... but it is technically the much nicer bike.
that being said, I would realistically be able to get about 1200-1300 for the Secteur, and 600ish for the Raleigh... so my cut would be like $900-$950, which i'd use to put towards an entry level track bike; which would in turn, being road bike-less, end my triathlon career, and start my track career.
so... what should I do? help me out bf.

Theres nothing a 17degree stem and a slam can't fix. The secteur is a very fast bike and you can set it up as such; since when has the roubaix lost races because of a more relaxed geometry?
I say take the secteur if it fits and let him keep the raleigh, or keep one and not the other. I wouldn't take both.

He still wants them both gone. So I'd sell the Raleigh for him; if i can get the Secteur to fit right, I'll keep it, otherwise I'm gonna have to let it go.
Thanks again for the input.

I just received my veeps today; seeing that they are silver, I'm tempted to lace them to silver phils, a combo I've always wanted. Instead of relacing my DA's to them as planned initially and just relacing the front for that set instead. Should I?

FWIW, I keep considering upgrading from my S300's to Omniums, but can't really justify it. The S300's haven't given me any problems at all, and I haven't noticed any flex or anything. If you're trying to be budget conscious, I'd say just go for the S300 but if you're just going to be wanting the Omniums anyways, just go with them in the first place.

i have a confession. i'm definitely not hipster (trust me i tried and it just didn't work out. the receding hairline totally nipped that one in the bud), none of my bikes are shweet fixay tarck, and i know they are incredibly heavy, overpriced boat anchors and are basically just for hipster street cred....but i cant help but want a white aerospoke. i know i know. ridiculous.
its just that, out of all my bikes, the one "street fixed gear" i own is a traitor ringleader, where the back half of the frame is purple and the front half is white. all components are silver, tiny touches of purple here and there (valve caps, cable crimp, and that middle piece on the thomson elite stem)...brown brooks saddle and tape.
everytime i look at the bike i imagine a front white aerospoke on it (YES just a front lol) and it makes me LOL at the thought of it, how tarck it would look....and i like what i see in my mind's eye. like, allot.
i see a white aerospoke on ebay for 250. i have disposible income. about 250 dollars worth. please talk me out of it.
i sort of somewhat pride myself on making somewhat logical component purchases for my bike, so its sort of bothering me lol

Everyone has a little tarck in them.
Is it worth $250? Absolutely not.
Scrod paid $75 for his and now it's not even in use.
It's okay to pay $250 for a wheel--if you like the look and it will not hurt ride quality. Anything that makes you ride your bike is great.
But $250 towards a gamble at making your bike look a little better in your eyes but feel worse?
