Pro tip: if you do not want your white bar tape to turn grey in a relative short amount of time, make sure that your white bar tape is by lizardskins

Nagrom_ 11-06-12 09:57 PM

I hear fizik microtex stays really clean too.

True, but I'm not going to recommend something I don't like :p
Not to mention the porousness of the tape material/ surface is going to play a major factor here....

Nagrom_ 11-06-12 10:04 PM

I'm gonna have to try some Lizard skins.

You mean you have never tried lizard skins since finding this forum? Am I reading this correctly?

IF this is true, you're missing out bro'.

Nagrom_ 11-06-12 10:07 PM

I loved the feel of lizard skins but mine didn't want to stay put on chrome bars. The adhesive would probably be just fine on something more textured though.

You gotta htfu your wrappings skills dog.

Shouldn't make a difference and from my first hand experience w/ the tape I can confirm that. From trial and error and experience, the trick is in pre-prep and application. Remove all remaining adhesive and clean your bars w/ rubbing alcohol. Even as the package says not to stretch the tape, do it anyway but moderately/ gingerly while wrapping, that way you'll not just have the adhesive backing keeping the tape on the bars but also the elasticity of the tape.

ddeadserious 11-06-12 10:33 PM

Lizardskins rules. Need to stretch it a little bit, but not too much. So padded, so grippy; perfect tape.

Muffin Man 11-06-12 11:15 PM

I have lizardskins on right now, and they dont have any grip left, and are more yellow than white now... I have no idea what happened. I liked them a bit when they were new, but I think I prefer thinner, less grippy tape. I'm probably gonna go with regular fizik microtex.

Should I get a thomson elite seatpost or an aero carbon seatpost much like this one http://www.amazon.com/Carbon-Aero-Ro...d_sim_sbs_sg_2 . Thanks Im really torn on this decision, any pros or cons will help. They are the same price.

Nagrom_ 11-06-12 11:51 PM

garbage taiwanese carbon boat anchor? or american made lifetime warrantied lightweight masterpiece?

Muffin Man 11-07-12 12:02 AM

So you're saying garbage Taiwanese boat anchor.

Nagrom_ 11-07-12 12:09 AM

yes

UCF Eric 11-07-12 08:15 AM

Should I buy a Pake frame and use my Bareknucke for on it? The 56 is too large and the entire rear triangle of the 54 is cracked and bent out of shape.

What do you actually need an aero seatpost for?

Seriously. I don't know why so many people have trouble with Lizard Skins tape.

J Pedals 11-11-12 10:12 PM

Should I trust the lockring that comes with Wabi wheels, or go ahead and buy another Dura Ace lockring? I only ask because I've heard bad things about formula rings and wonder if the Wabi's may be similar.

striknein 11-11-12 10:23 PM

Formula lock rings are fine, as long as they're the steel ones. The aluminum ones don't hold, and could strip.

Nagrom_ 11-13-12 09:13 PM

New road build.

New force or used red?

In truth you can't go wrong with either but I'll have to vote used red because red and you should be able to snag/ piece together a set under MSRP for force on fleabay.

It's looking like 930 for force, and ~1000 for red, so I'm really not worried about the price difference.

I think when my current bike sells, I'm gonna place my orders for the frame, put in the wheel order with scrod, as well as stem/post, etc, and while that is all happening, I'll keep an eye for for Red on ebay/CL.

If I can find the gruppo before everything comes in, then I'll get it. If everything beats the groupset home, I'll spend another week looking for Red, if it doesn't happen, I'll go Force.

Sound solid?

Sounds good. How's the plan for the wheelbuild?

A23's to the SL novatec's with wheelsmith XL15's, alloy nips, and veloplugs. Should come in around 1400g.

Still considering spoke count. 24/28, 28/32, or 32/32. can't decide. I'll probably just go 32/32.
