I've done it for a friend and hated every moment of it.
|
Scrod,
Am I the only one here who hates the frame color of my 930? |
Whilst I am /notscrod, I'd say if you love the bike, powder coat it and make it a dannihilator 930
|
I like the bike, but I have absolutely hated the color since I got it.

Hey Scrod and the notscrod consortium,
This might be asking a bit much, but I'm trying to figure out what stem length to get for a 53cm 722 ts. I got all my measurements and I used the fit calculator on competitive cyclist, but I'm still having issues. I'm between 5 8" and 5 9", 31" inseam. I know fit is subjective, but I'll take anything I can get. I'm currently running a 90mm Thomson X4 on a 2009 Raleigh that has a slightly different head tube angle, but comparing the frames side by side with the bb's and seat tubes/chain stays lined up, the 722 head tube sits about 1 cm ahead of the Raleigh. Should I just shoot for an 80 mm stem? Apologies if this is overkill on my part, thanks. |
Try the 90mm you have on hand and base your decision on how that feels.
|
I'm an idiot.

Scrod,
sorry if this has been asked I often see you recommend products that are not available at Retrogression. I know the reason, cause you're a stand up guy... just wondering how you resist the urge to sell, sell sell & balance things out |
I recommend things I have experience with or think are good products/value, not just to sell stuff.
For such a small shop, RG does a good amount of business. While we do add new stuff to the site from time to time, there's no real need to try to sell everything under the sun. Besides, there are other places out there - like Velomine and Ben's Cycle - who have decent prices (VM's wheelset prices blow my mind), treat their customers well and are generally awesome to deal with. None of us are getting rich selling bike parts and at the end of the day, we all need to eat. |
Hey scrod i just ordered some stuff and i just wanted to know how long does your shipping take? I live in new york
|
I live in NY too and it usually takes 2-3 days for stuff to get here maybe one more for processing.
notscrod |
alright thanks man
|
Friendly reminder: Ask Scrod is for questions unrelated to Retrogression (most of the time), if you have questions about orders and whatnot you get from RG, take it to the RG thread in the marketplace.

Also, the FAQ page on the site exists for a reason. |
Scrod,
Possibly Retro related, if so ignore this. Until I stumbled across this thread I was planning on upgrading to an Omnium crankset. I ride roughly 18 miles a day in Boston. Even though I'm light there is definitely some torque involved sprinting light to light. Can you recommend a few alternatives? I don't mind a higher priced set if the life will be significantly longer. |
Your question is more related to crankset choice than to RG. What are you using now?
Omniums are a great, very stiff crankset (although I have seen quite a few QC issues recently) but I had bad experience with the GXP bottom bracket. Angie has a set on her 721TR now and they are problem free so far. She's also about half my weight. Andels are great bang for the buck but I find them to be pretty damn ugly - especially the non drive side arm. If you're going to splurge and want a crankset that will last a long time, go with 75s and a Protype BB from Ben's. |

The Messenger is a good crankset but most likely won't be much stiffer than the Brev M crank you already have.
|
Weak. Ok, round 2. Can you give me another good, better, best scenario? Thanks for your time man.
|
Wheels for the DMR again this winter, 26" Velocity P35's or Sun Ringle MTX 33's?
Going with the Halo DJD hub. |
Velocity P35s to Halo DJDs FTW.
|
That's what it will be then.
|
Mr Scrod
Anything structurally wrong with the Leader 727 or do people only hate on it due to aesthetics? Thanks, Aristo |
People just don't like it because it's an ugly duckling.
