I recently purchased a fixed gear online, but with 22.2cm bmx bars that I want to exchange for drop bars. What size drop bars should I be looking for?

Are the Suzue hubs a significant upgrade from Novatec or would they be something you'd only buy if you were upgrading wheelsets already?

They definitely look prettier. The overall quality and materials used are most likely a little nicer but I wouldn't go through the trouble of rebuilding your current wheelset just to switch hubs.

calv 03-17-13 09:06 PM

Nice. I wanted to do the reverse of my current wheelset: silver hubs and nipples with black spokes and rims whenever I end up building up my next bike.

Scrod,

how do I find your ebay page?

Retrogression on eBay

Would buying a Leader 725 from coghouse be okay? I know that at the discounted price there are bound to be some issues. The eBay page says that it is mostly cosmetic; like paint chips, bubbles, dings, etc. There won't be any major issues with the frame like poor welds, or cracks, or anything that would be an issue to me as a rider?

Thanks

I saw a lot of the frames being sold by Coghouse in person when I was at Leader last week and wouldn't hesitate to ride any of them.

Leader wouldn't sell you a frame that could potetially fall apart underneath you.

kite991 03-18-13 08:00 PM

Awesome, I'll be purchasing my Leader frame either tomorrow or wednesday. Now begins the long process of finding good deals on parts for the frame.

Xgecko 03-18-13 09:51 PM

Did you ask Leader why they abandoned the TS for the HS?

This. What's with their wacky seattubes on the 722 mang

calv 03-18-13 10:27 PM

I remember Scrod mentioning the chainstays are a little shorter now, so you can now actually slam your rear wheel into the cutout. So at least it's functional.

Muffin Man 03-18-13 10:36 PM

But on a steel frame that's otherwise not remotely aero? Meh.

It's aesthetic. Now that the seat stay length has been adjusted, it actually looks really nice with the wheel tucked and the shorter wheelbase does make for slightly more aggressive geo - especially paired with the new S803 V2 fork having less rake.

None of you are actually riding in a manner that would benefit from having an "aero" seat tube anyway, so it shouldn't matter.

Do you know of any levers that have a similar flat top hood like more modern levers like the sram 500s but have a more "classic" look ?

revolator 03-20-13 01:55 PM

Hey searched this thread for it but nothing, so not sure if its been mentioned.

But anyway, still on the hunt for a crankset, what's your impression of the Corsa? I like the look and price. Not a lot on the web about it.

The Corsa crankset is made in the same factory as Stronglight and Miche - and are very similar in design. For the money they are an exceptional deal.

How would you say the Corsa compares to the standard Andel cranks? I'm looking for a replacement crankset for a beater/around town.

Why spend even that much on a beater? Get Vuelta Pistas.

macbethpoe 03-20-13 10:16 PM

Thanks for taking the time man, much appreciated.
