Also, maybe this is a silly question.. I have roughly $200-$300 to spend on a new wheelset.

On your site, the Miche Pistard set is on sale for $250. There's also an H+Son Archetype/Formula set that's up for $250.

Out of those 2, is either one strongly preferable? Or are they fairly similar in terms of quality.

Scrodzilla 10-07-14 10:01 PM

Archetypes are a little lighter but they're pretty similar overall quality and either one will hold up just fine. Rims on the Miche set are Ambrosio Pistas.

Miche hubs > Formulas.

Owlex 10-07-14 10:55 PM

Thanks.

Love my Miche wheelset - still smooth and true after three and a half years riding.

Have you tried the new all city rings yet?

Scrodzilla 10-08-14 10:38 AM

Nope, but they sure do seem nice.

I just ordered one through a local shop. I'll let you know what it's like. As if I could feel a difference.

Hey Scrod Love what your'e doing at retrogression Grade site. My question regards the All city thunderdome. I am around six three and a half do you think that the 58cm Thunderdome is to small for me

Traifster 10-10-14 07:18 AM

So I'm looking for some drop bars to replace the risers on my Iro Mark V. I want a drop bar that's somewhere between a track and a road bar: has the nice curves of a track bar but not such an immediate and drastic drop so I'm holding the bars on top right next to the stem. Here's a couple I've found that have grabbed my interest:

Deda Elementi Pista handlebar | Retrogression seems like there might not be enough room on top?
Gran Compe Drop Bar ? Factory Five these caught my eye but i'm not familiar with gran compe plus doesn't look like it's a 31.7 clamp
Deda Elementi Newton 31.7 Deep Drop Bar > Components > Handlebars and Stems > Drop Handlebars | Jenson USA or Deda Elementi Newton 31.7 Shallow Bar > Components > Handlebars and Stems > Drop Handlebars | Jenson USA nice but expensive

That's really about all I've found that's close to what I'm looking for, Scrod do you have any suggestions?

It will be much too small.

3T Rotundo has a nice round drop similar to that of track drops but also has a nice flat top section. Deda Speciale is also similar in shape but only comes in silver.

Hey Scrod, I'm new to these parts and I don't know where else to find an answer to these questions.

Under every username there's a space for Mentioned Post(s) and one for Tagged Thread(s). What do these designations mean?

Scrodzilla 10-10-14 08:41 AM

Look at the my profile page and click the 'mentions' and 'thread tags' tabs for examples.

When someone does this - @Route 66 - you'll get a notification and it will show up on your profile. It's a good feature if you don't visit the site very often and someone replies to something you said that may have gotten buried but not many people utilize it.

Route 66 10-10-14 08:51 AM

Thanks, I (kind of) get it now. :thumb:

I have to say, under Scrod's crusty exterior he must be a nice guy, cause this is one of the most helpful threads on the interwebz. Kudos.

scrod is a magestic hunk of manmeat.

1970s FUJI INTERMEDIATE TRACK BIKE

any thoughts on this frame ? i've been looking for a lugged steel track frame. unless this frame is very intro level the price almost seems a little too good to be true

Scrodzilla 10-11-14 08:23 AM

If it fits you, buy it. Now.

50voltphantom 10-11-14 09:22 AM

Scrod, I 'm looking to purchase the SRAM S300 crankset with GXP BB from Retro-gression and wanted to make sure that I have the proper tools to install the GXP BB. Will the standard BBT-22 from Park Tool install this ok, or do I need to be looking at something else?

Scrodzilla 10-11-14 01:34 PM

You'll need the Park BB-19 or BB-19.2

What could possibly have driven someone to display that font so prominently on the down-tube?

Scrodzilla 10-11-14 03:53 PM

I have no idea but I hate it. It reminds me of professional wrestling.

Sherblock 10-11-14 04:04 PM

The worst part is it looks like they're using it on the other color-way being released this year.

The only picture I could find was a weird shot on Cinelli's website (in the gallery for the caleido). But I saw the font. God, that font...

BiceclettaLover 10-12-14 01:05 PM

Hey,Scrod what is your opinion on the new 2015 cinelli Histogram. I fall in love with every cinelli I see in person, but think they are overpriced. Is it worth the extra cash.

Scrodzilla 10-12-14 02:36 PM

Regardless of my opinion, it's "worth" whatever people will pay to have it. Cinelli has decided that amount is $949. It being worth it to you depends on whether or not you'd pay that much.

Ask a cryptic question, get cryptic answers.

has a 31.8 quill stem ever been made to your knowledge?
