Will the VP comp headset fit my bike (pictured below)? Sorry if it's a dumb question

If your setup is 1 1/8" threads (which I'm pretty sure it is), yes.

Exceptionally good deal. I'd have paid nearly the same or more for parts, even with a shop discount...

Thanks, Scrod!

Yeah I built myself a Sram Automatix rear wheel for about that price last year

is this worth jumping on?

ive been looking at 721s. I think i can get over the blemish, just iffy on the black fork.

Scrodzilla 02-27-14 06:29 PM

Eh?

If you can get past that gnarly blemish and it's your size, that's a damn good deal. The fork alone retails for $219.

You'll basically be buying a fork for a 10% discount and getting a free frame and headset.

bmontgomery87 02-27-14 07:14 PM

Thanks man.
It looks pretty rough, i didn't know if I can figure out a way to cover it with a sticker or sand/spray to conceal it.
If not I think I could just ride it for that price.

Scrodzilla 02-27-14 07:20 PM

****, you could throw it in the dumpster as soon as it arrived for that price.

kitteh 02-27-14 10:37 PM

Loosened the tension screw too much on my SPDs. That little plate that the tension screw screws into fell off. I've done it before, but the pedals weren't on the bike so I could grab the plate and shove it back in.

Not so lucky this time, went for a ride in the morning and was wondering why the pedals were ****ing up.

What can I do, apart from get new pedals?

Scrodzilla 02-28-14 11:30 AM

Be more careful.

bmontgomery87 02-28-14 12:41 PM

Ended up buying that 721 we talked about.

Looks like I get to start my first build. It's probably going to get spare parts for a while, just for the sake of being able to ride it.

Any bottom bracket recommendations that don't break the bank? probably going with 103mm, i've got a set of sugino cranks i'm putting on it.

Scrodzilla 02-28-14 03:50 PM

If you need a 103mm BB you're pretty much limited to using a Sugino BB. IRD may make one as well but it will most likely cost more than the Sugino.

nelsonfung21 03-01-14 02:27 AM

why sometimes the chain is tight but sometimes it's loose ?

Like, the upper chain is tightened but the lower part is loose, after rolling the crank a half circle, the situation is reversed

Is that a normal condition ? (I have chain tensioners on it.)

FakeFuji 03-01-14 05:00 AM

Your chainring is probably out of round, you can try to center it,

^^^ You forgot to put /not Scrodzilla/

Is there a reason you did not include Tange? I am sick of getting my good bike (which is also my everyday bike) beat up by others on the train, in bike-racks, etc & am about to commence a beater build. My prospective buy list includes a Sugino crank & 103mm Tange bb, but will reconsider if there is something wrong with it...

thank you, gonna do it after the new crankset arrives.

nelsonfung21 03-01-14 09:37 AM

And what model or which brand of helmets do you recommend for a good deal ?

Because I didn't realize they make one.

If your chainring isn't perfectly round (which many are not), centering it won't completely fix the problem. Also, a lot of inexpensive cogs aren't perfectly round either.

I'm not here to dress you. Go to some shops, try some on helmets and buy the one you like best.

nelsonfung21 03-01-14 11:19 AM

alright. i think it maybe my cog then.
