I've got something to add about saddle choice. I work at a LBS, and I recently learned that the curvature of your lower back is a good indicator of which saddle-style should work for you. If you have a straight back, go for a flat saddle (Arione, Speczd Toupe, etc), if your back has a more pronounced curve, you would probably be more comfortable on a saddle which also has a curve (Turbo, Concor, Romin, etc).
That might also explain why Scrod loves his Turbo, but can't stand the Arione! Of course the best method is to try out as many saddles as you can, but with this rule of thumb you can rule out a lot of potentially uncomfortable (for you) saddles! |

MAP bars are the titties!!! loving mine with some of the 4mm Champ grips. nice upright ride or you can lean forward into the bends to get aero into the wind! they look pretty rad also. +1 to Scrod for the multiple recommendations.

Thinking about a bell for the Venge. Those Crane's look great. Anything else worth taking a look at? And, how wide is the mounting strap (hoping to fit it between the grip and brake lever)?

Expensive to some but I've never heard a bell so nice and courteous sounding. Worth every penny. That or scrod can help you get one of those more venge-ish mks bells, where one model comes in titanium if you got dolla dolla dollas to spend. |

The mounting strap is smaller than a zip tie. The MKS bell Leuky mentions is kinda crappy and the Ti version isn't worth the price. |

Out of the bike's you've seen/sold, which ones have a horizontal top tube in a 49/50cm, 52/53cm t-t? I currently have an SE Premium Brew and an RYD Blends, both in 49cm, but both still have upward sloping top tubes. Steel or aluminum, it's purely an aesthetic thing. I just like my road going bikes to have that classic styling.

Since you do lots of builds, Scrod, you must know: how do I keep from scratching my seatpost where it's clamped to the frame? This happens on every single bike I've had.

Gently chamfering the inside edge with a small file or some sandpaper may lessen it but any time you're clamping something metal on metal, there will be some sort of visible marks. |

pretty sure they perfect, i hadnt noticed before but the soma oxfords are noodly as hell. these are rock solid, and something about the position makes me just want to ride like a real ***hole. black looks great, glad it worked out that way

Scrod,
The Phil square taper BB I installed in November acts like it's over tightened/indexed if I let it sit overnight. Once I turn the cranks by hand a couple times it frees up and doesn't makes any noise when I spin it, but it doesn't spin freely like it should. Is it relatively easy to over-tourque the cups? I used a torque wrench and tightened them to the specified 40 N-m/30 ft-lb. I haven't removed it yet to assess the damage Any tips are appreciated. |
