Jaytron, the black finish on my front A23 has not been affected at all by the occasional braking that I do. I rode the brake down a hill yesterday, cringing the whole time, and checked it afterward with no ill effect. I'm sure in time it may wear, but it seems to be pretty resilient for the time being. /notscrod

If you've ever had a lockring wrench slip off as you've been cranking down on it and jammed your thumb into the spokes as a result, you already know. There's ZERO slippage with the pliers and getting a lockring super tight with them requires little effort. Also, using them to remove a lockring that's really stuck is much easier because you can get a better grip on them without wrecking your hand.

Scrod,
How do you get your bikes colored and linked to PedalRoom in your sig? I can't seem to figure it out.

Thanks for helping me out. If could look like this that would be great!
PedalRoom (in black/turquoise): CAAD(black)10(white) | Trek Earl (black) | Schwinn Gateway (brown)
Thanks so much! How was your ride?

White text won't show up so I used really light grey. I added the code. Go to your settings and see if there's a bunch of mumbo-jumbo in your sig. If not, I'll e-mail you the necessary code.
Today's ride was awesome. It was mostly just Angie and I but we picked up a few friends along the way and had a great time. 60° weather in late November on the north shore of MA is something to be taken advantage of.

No prob! Let me know if you want to use a different font or whatever and I'll change it.

It looks great! I played around with it a bit. Could you change it to the font you have?

Done.

Thanks for the answer. It makes sense. Glad the ride was nice. I was planning a solo half century today, but it's chilly and raining so I opted out.

Yeah...our "half-century" ended up being pretty half-assed because we made a ton of stops but that's what made it so much fun. It was needed. We've been working too hard lately.

Yeah, my distance rides end up going "Ride 10 miles, get a beer. Ride 10 miles, look at this neat historical thing. Ride 10 miles have a poo, ride 10 miles get a sandwich, switch bikes, ride 10 feet and tell everyone how much you hate riding their bike, switch again, repeat ad nauseum", but that's what makes them fun.

Dear Scod,
Do you think a https://www.bianchiusa.com/bikes/fixe...-via-condotti/ would work as a full-time bike? Commuting, occasionally pulling a kid's trailer (I know - gasp) and riding with the wife and kids. I'm 180 at 6' but will be carrying a Vandal full o' text books. Combined weight is probably 200-215 lbs.

Personally, I wouldn't want to pull a trailer riding fixed but I don't really see any reason it wouldn't be a decent all-around bike - unless you ever wanted to use bigger tires or full fenders because I doubt it has the clearance.

Does Leader make any FG/Track bikes that come bigger than 58cm besides the 722? I really want to pick up a 725 or 735 at some point, and after riding a friend's 61cm Super Pista I realized that it fits better.

I went to my LBS and got quoted $45 to mill the fork to fit ISO crown race. For the price of the RG fork + labor I could get a Tange fork... Are ISO and JIS crown races interchangable within the same headset? That way I can just buy a JIS crown race instead of paying for the labor for the fork to work.

The 2.5 has double-sided dropout plates. Also, I believe a small batch of the smaller sized V2 had weird chainstays.

You'd need to get either a complete JIS or ISO headset. The pieces aren't interchangeable.
