i much prefer the black black. white would look more pro.

May as well throw mine under the adriano bus . . .
Notes: Mostly stock . . . 61cm frame size, Shimano PD-A520 pedals, Nitto ADB-X track bars taped almost to the stem, UI85GX stem, and bar end plugs (that don't fall out). Brake needs to be easily removed to make it "track legal" otherwise it's not allowed on the track, including during open practice times, which translates to using a CX lever. The Nitto bars have a shallower drop (150mm) with a 15 degree flare that I prefer on the track compared to traditional track bars (~170mm drop), and it's easier to use their tops on the street as they're angled instead of a sweeping continuous curve. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l2...iPista007a.jpg Saw one other pic here with same stand. It's made by Feedback. You'll most likely see them in larger bike stores to hold up their display bikes. The angled post with disks is sprung to hold the tire, but can fold down flat with the base for transport or storage. They're well made and not very expensive. Pulled the rim stickers off but it left loads of adhesive behind which I know will grunge. Any hints on a common solvent that can be used to get rid of the sticker adhesive? |
Goof off works great for that stuff.

Goo Gone is similar product which you can at walmart / any grocery store

Went out into the garage and looked at the rack of solvents . . . no acetone . . . but did find one that worked exceptionally well . . . VM&P Naphtha. Took it right off without creating any gooey or gummy residue. Also softened and partially dissolved the fingertips one of the wife's kitchen latex gloves. Oops. Those will have to be replaced tomorrow. That they were old won't matter. It happened on "my watch." As with nearly all solvents, working in a highly ventilated area using protection to prevent continuous or repeated skin contact (rubber gloves) is important, plus it's very flammable (it's the main ingredient in Zippo lighter fluid).

Meh, people handle corrosive and flammable stuff barehanded every day. Htfu. Jk. But seriously, old film and some guitar picks are made from celluloid, which is ridiculously flammable.

Thanks for the comments,I'll start a new thread with the build pics

Here are a few...

They're all nice 65er, but that CCM is astonishing. Beautiful bike sir, I don't care what Adriano says about it.

I have received many compliments on this old beater ("Betsy") and enough to make me think that when I get into the new frame shop I will build a few more frames like this out of slightly nicer materials. Was able to convert it to a fixed gear this spring due to a generous BF member sending me some period correct pedals that would fit the one piece crank and the Peugeot is wearing it's old coaster wheels now. |

high flanges, heavy rims, black brake, trade top lever for hoods, jack bars, frame stickers keeping things mostly stock was a good choice very solid/10 http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...11ccmpath1.JPG nondual pivot front brake, pseudo drops, front center wont let you get out front as well, brooks, brooks angle, obsolete crank, dont like the second top tube saying all that felt silly. 1951/10 http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikepics/reg2009c.JPG needs front fender flap in burgundy, schaeder valves, needs hammered fenders, saddle tape mismatch, uncomfortable hoods, old crank, brooks very nice/10 http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...o8skyline1.JPG nonsilver bell, uncomfy hoods, old brake, old crank, modern saddle, foot retention retro fast/10 |

If you ever want to sell it... |
I think most of us do!

Just to note, the large fenders are for when switching to larger tires (crosschecks can fit Big Apple tires with fenders)
