Centurion project finally rolling. I gotta wait for more funds for pedals and a front brake but so far rolling nice. It was fun building from the ground up it allowed me to learn more.

Now that we're all friends again...find a nice background, lose the locks and take a picture of the drive side.

Built most of the bike during the winter. Its a Benotto Modelo 850 or 1500 not sure which, I do know the frameset is made out of Columbus ZETA. I have geared road bikes, lots of mountain bikes but I had never ridden a fixed gear bike until I rode my Benotto to work today. WHAT A BLAST this bike is. Only one gear is really nice, no shifting, no other gears, either make it up this hill or carry the bike up it...lol. It feels really good, really fast, and super quiet....like whisper quiet. Here are the specs on the bike....built from a bare frame...painted by me, decals from ebay.

Frame : 58cm Columbus Zeta Tubes w/ forged drops
Wheels/Tires : Mavic CXP22 w/ Continental GP3000
bars/cranks/pedals/seat : Origin 8
BarTape : Lizard Skin ( amazing btw )
Front brake/lever : Tektro dual pivot, random road lever from a 70's Raleigh.

I know the red bits on the bike might not be for everyone but I like them so I guess thats what really matters!! Let me know how you guys and gals like it.

i love this whole look. no bar tape needed? whats the cork for? and finally what saddle is that? very well balanced proportion

The bull horns were a bad idea, the 90mm stem wasn't.

Thanks so much for liking the bike! I will probably put some bar tape as it will make the bike look complete. The saddle is actually an Avenir Classic. It's a budget saddle. Eventually, I'll either get a San Marco Regal or a Brooks Swift, but I just wanted something that would look decent. Here's a link to where I bought the saddle:

My new Motobecane Track (Windsor The Hour w/o decals)

I added a front brake and aero brake levers, a better saddle, a 17t cog and some eggbeater pedals so I could use my MTB shoes. Going to get some new drop bars as the stock ones are only comfortable if you got Orangutan arms.

That looks like a really tight bend on the housing as it exits the lever. How's the braking?

I was going to eventually go back to a suspension fork. Just didn't think that it was going to be an RST.

It is one of their better models though and got a good deal on it.

Well, the Dolan Pre Cursa frameset arrived today, so I hurriedly stripped the VISP of its components and transferred them to the Pre Cursa. The only parts that I didn't use were the seatpost, which came with the Pre Cursa, stem because the one on the VISP was too short, and chain because it was worn so I put on a new Wippermann Whitestar I had in the parts bin. The aerus carbon/aluminum stem is a takeoff from my old geared road bike. So basically I didn't spend a dime on the new build other than the frameset itself. I weighed it and it's exactly a pound lighter than the VISP was. About half of the weight loss was in the frame and the rest in the fork. I was running out of daylight when I took the outdoor photo, so the bike wasn't dialled in and the front brake was not connected because the cable housing was too short. Also, I left a lot of fork steerer tube on it to be safe and plenty of chain links. I had to file down the stupid safety tabs on the front fork dropouts because they interfered with the track nut washers. The big shock was when the UPS lady said that I owed them $35.16 for a "brokerage fee" in customs. This was on top of the hefty $118.34 shipping fee from the UK. So, basically shipping costs accounted for 37% of the total $416.50 cost. Dolan was nice enough to thrown in a track bag for free.

Hey thanks, the bars are 38cm Nitto B2500, you can also get the B2500AA for the aluminum version. The grips are Brooks slender grips, they come in colours that match the Brooks saddles. And the brake levers are Tektro FL750 to top it all off.

A few better pics of the Pre Cursa, now that the lighting is better and I've had a chance to get it adjusted and test ridden. Wow, what an improvement over the VISP ! Very responsive but smoother ride for sure.

Either your seat's too low or you're not as tall as you think, because that frame looks too big for you.

Actually its right on for an upright commuter position. I went for a specific posture and it is as comfortable as can be
