Good to see you're cooking again. Last I recall you were working at a Performance bike shop.

So far it's been my favorite class. There's just something so, so awesome about sitting down with an expert for 3 hours a week and learning through discussion (rather than lecture).

also, this is a quick edit, but I had my first bike coop shift last night. no one came in
That's pretty neat to get that kind of interaction with the professor. I understand history isn't the most exciting subject to be studied, but it can be fascinating with the right motivation or professor. Trying to stay with my statistics class, only been in it 3 weeks now and already feeling burnt out. Professors method was to give us all the hard stuff & formulas first and have us practice throughout the whole semester so we aren't stressed out during finals. Now it's just finding that motivation....

Hope you get some people next time!

Hah. Good to see that some things haven't changed.

Yeah, I did Performance full-time until winter hit, then I did Performance Monday-Wednesday and a small CX/Commuter focused shop (https://www.ponyshop.com/) Thursday-Saturday. Did that for a little under a year, got offered an Exec Chef gig at two prominent bar/venue spots in town. Did that for a couple of months and it didn't work out. I've been with this company since March.

That statistics class sounds rough, but I'm not really into math-y stuff.

Having no one in the class is great! It can be hard because classes here work in a conference style, though that's also one of the best parts. It just means you need to pay attention and actively contribute. I only have one lecture a week and everything else is done via discussion with peers with a professor moderating/guiding. I absolutely love it.

Every day I get on the bike instead of driving, I regain a little piece of my soul.

Good luck! I know it seemed boring when I took it. Although, I know it's going to be an important feature in my hopeful science career. My mistake was taking a 7:00 AM class for stats, so I skipped the last couple weeks and bombed the Central Limit Theorem portion of the final. Whoops...

Bikes: 34 frames + 80 wheels

Today, just now, I easily put on a pair of jeans with a 31" waistline that I haven't worn in probably a decade. Six months ago I could barely stuff my fat gut into a 33" with a bunch of overhang. I've since lost over 10 lbs, mostly in my gut and butt, and it feels great to be able to ride on the drops w/o my belly getting in the way.

Bikes: road, track, mtb

On Thursday night, at the rock-climbing gym, I dicked around in the weights area, and was able to build up to 1 set of loaded squats (10x150lbs). No back pain.

Today, I just got back from a ~3.5hrs steady ride, but really let it rip up a few climbs in the latter half of the ride.

I'm back *****es!

My plan is to still take it (mostly) easy until October, when I would like to begin base in earnest. Now that I'm confident of my body, I'll resume my search for a good coaching service. I'm excited and motivated to train and apply myself to earning my cat2 upgrade next year!

Good luck. Feels good to finally get over an injury hurdle.

Today I am continuing to slowly improve my weightlifting. Actually kind of excited to get into some attempted serious training over the winter.

Did 50 miles today, got lost and ended up in Brighton Beach Brooklyn. Took a break and talked to an old Russian guy about him doing 110 miles when he was younger on his Peugeot before it got stolen.
