I'm contemplating going tubeless on my cx bike after pinch flating ten minutes before the race start Saturday n

Today I realized my track bag and spare cogs and chainrings got stolen out of my truck.

Suckage. That ain't enough time to beg for spare wheel from someone, I reckon.

I'm wussing out on mud racing. Hopefully one of the few upcoming races is semi-dry.

I tried to patch it but was rushing too much and botched it. I usually have a spare tube in my bag but of course, I had just used it earlier that week on another flat.

You missed out on that Hillsboro race, some of the worst mud I've ever encountered. I heard the fastest lap was 12mph.

I got a mouth full of goat heads on my Surly today. Both tires covered in the cursed weeds. Luckily these fatty tires could roll for a few more miles before going flat.

I'm always hungry now, and it's kind of annoying. Doesn't look like I'm gaining any weight though, so I'm not worried yet.

I recently got a fatbike, they are lots of fun on MTB trails. I can't wait to try it out in the snow and sand.

you do need it.

Today I can actually be mobile again for the first time in almost two weeks.

Commuting home from work Wednesday night (10/29), a car slammed on it's brakes for a pothole or something. I had plenty of room to pass, and there were no cars coming in any of the other lanes, so I went around him. My next memory of the evening is getting out of a police car in front of my house while bleeding profusely from the head. Next memory is being in a CT scan, next memory is getting my eyelid stitched back together, next memory is being at home going to bed. The three days following the accident are fuzzy, as well.

Here's a pic from the ER:

And this is what I looked like the next day:

Four broken ribs, torn oblique muscle, major concussion, multiple hairline fractures of the ocular bone above and next to my eye, blowout fracture of my cheekbone which is currently pushing into my sinus cavity, eyelid sewn back in place, five loose teeth, and a broken finger. Helmet was split in half and had red paint on it. Brand new shifter has a giant chunk taken out of it, and new bar tape is trashed, but that's the only damage at all to the bike.

Doctor is sending me to a specialist, because she thinks that I'm going to need plates in my face to fix the cheekbone. After that, oral surgery to fix the teeth.

The two worst parts of this are that I was having a great CX season that I'm now going to miss most, if not all, of the rest of, and one of the restaurants I run is launching a new menu Thursday and I haven't been there in almost two weeks.

At least I'm still alive.

I hope you heal quickly, and that you need a minimal amount of surgery. Best of luck.

Today I switched my fixed-gear to winter mode: studded tires, dropped gearing by swapping chainrings and flipping the rear wheel to the bigger cog, and installed my new K710 chain after anointing it with a little Chain-L. I'm ready for some snow.
