Ugh, that really blows. Cars always seem to break down when you actually need to use them.. Glad you got it sorted good sir! I wonder what caused the battery to drain -- im curious what circuit was left open..
Today I went get in my hybrid car and it was totally dead. Couldn't even unlock the door with the key fob, thought maybe its little battery was dead, but the spare key fob wouldn't work either. So I used the little emergency key to enter the car and couldn't start it, which meant I couldn't get it out of park or steer it so it could be towed. Opened the hood and checked the voltage of the 12 volt battery that is needed to start the car and operate all the electronics. It was dead as a doornail, like just 2 volts. Fortunately, I have this small portable battery jump starter that allowed me to start this thing and get it loaded on the wrecker. When they unload it at the dealer they have to jump it again so it doesn't get damaged. Just last week I replaced the dead battery in my truck or I would otherwise be sol for motorized transport. Well, at least all this stuff including the tow is covered by warranty.

No circuits were on, these things just pull a lot of current even when they are shut off. The car is 2-1/2 years old and the original factory batteries are usually crap, so they rarely last more than 3 years. I had kind of an indication that there was a problem a week ago when the entertainment module stopped working, but just thought some cumputer had burned out. Well, at least this happened in my driveway and not out in the boonies. Also, being retired I don't have to worry about missing work.

Ah gotcha. Yeah, all of these newer hybrid/elec cars pull some mad current when not in use. New battery is a cheap fix

that place (because actually mentioning it gets censored? wtf?) is chock full of the worst kind of humans. it cracks me up that people care so much to post rants like that and basically nothing else. it should just be called rants.com

Depending on what subforum you're in there, there could be porn/gore/NSFW/NSFL stuff, so that might be why they censor? There's a fixed gear sub there also.

It's funny, I'm not a morning person at all (ask anyone who knows me), but for that week, I have no trouble waking up at 5-5:30, tearing down camp, and hitting the road by 6 in order to beat the heat. It was on my first or second RAGBRAI that this was really driven home.

So the Trek 660 I bought actually has a decent amount of paint touch up on it, which is for some reason becoming super apparent. When it came the lugs, especially the rear ones, were beautiful. Now, you can tell someone just painted over the chips.
Same with the downtube. A chip was painted over, and now the chip came off, leaving exposed metal.
None of this was mentioned in the eBay listing. Should I ask for a partial refund, and if so, how much would be reasonable?
This wasn't mentioned in the listing. He even said "The lug lines are clean with zero rust." Here's a pic of part of the rear-cluster.
I don't wanna bug the guy, but I'm a little bummed this wasn't expressly mentioned in the listing :/ What should I do?

I am not driving through Mexico right now since I cannot bring my shotgun across the border. I stupidly forgot that it is illegal to transport firearms into Mexico. Fortunately, Canada allows it so I won't have to ship it.

Today I had my first fixed gear crash.. low speed though, so no major injuries aside from a scraped knee, very sore lower back and most importantly of all... a scorn confidence!
Dunno how it happened, or maybe I do. Just mounted new tires and wanted to testdrive in my work-slip-on shoes and of course had to stand up to gain speed. When I wanted to sit down again the pedals somehow got the best of me and threw me off the bike. Scraped pedal (my new white and was-shiny PD-M530) and one of the handlebar grips. Could have been a lot worse.
Note to self. Put on the SPD shoes no matter how far or short the ride's gonna be!
Grrr....
Edit: Just realised I have dinged and scratched my mint 1988 bell! ARGH!!!

Man, thats a bummer. I guess asking for a partial refund all depends on how much you spent on the bike in the first place. Why can't people mention stuff like that, makes me sad

Otherwise settle for a percentage refund. This doesn't seem too bad of a scenario.
If things get ugly you can always open up something in the resolution center, refuse to ship it back on your dime because this is the seller dropping the ball by deliberately misrepresenting the item they're selling, wait it out and ultimately ebay would step in and decide in your favor and you get it for free.
Learned this the heartbreaking way when I was shipped a very rare and as you can imagine, very expensive after a bidding war, piece of audio gear by a complete buffoon who packed it in just 1 layer of cardboard and nothing else; flip side is now I have a rare non-working carcass of a tube receiver.

I ended up asking for a 25% refund. If that doesn't work I'll ask for $100 back (the shipping costs). And then if he denies that I figure I'll escalate it to an eBay claim and try and get as much as I can.
Pretty disappointing, especially since the touch up paint was applied awfully and is already chipping. I really want to keep the bike, though.

One of my hobbies is collecting and restoring rare vintage electronic calculators, and the holy grail are mint NIB (new in box) calculators with the original box intact. So, I bought one from some eBay dude in Scotland, and the fool shipped it in the box itself. Not only was the box crushed and ruined, but the shipping label could not be removed w/o destroying it. ******* !
I actually have a handful of them from dollar piles in the swap meet; even found a classic HP15c and 12c. I've seen vintage TI with red cathode as well.

See if your sqrl has nail polish that matches the frame's paint *after* settling this matter otherwise get some sally hanson's from CVS or kroger.
2-3 layers of colored nail polish & apply 1 coat of clear nail polish; wait until every coat is full cured. Consult sqrl for tips.
If you mess up or want to re-do use nail polish remover.

Guy basically told me no, said that he noted the paint "showed general use and wear" in the listing. said he'd understand if I contacted him sooner, but now since it's been 30 days since purchase he thinks I've ridden it too much to ask for a partial refund for cosmetic purposes.
I counter-offered by pointing out eBays policies, and said that if he refunded me $50 I'd be happy.
I'd definitely feel like an ******* if I had to escalate this to the claims center. Does anyone know if I can bring something to the claim center as "item not as described" and get a partial refund? I don't want to return it, and I don't want to take $600 from this poor dude.

Do not hint toward this.

The problem is sherblock bought it under the assumption that it did not have those defects. Did the seller explicitly mention anything about it in the auction listing?
So much for full disclosure huh?
