taking 4 days off the bike to go to New Orleans w the gf (woohoo!), so I asked the boss if I could come in late so I could put in a big one:

70.5 mi with 2.7k elevation in 3:45 rolling (18.8 mph). Did that on 190w AP/ 217w NP, total of 2600 kj of work.

Up next: Burrito!

Bikes: 34 frames + 80 wheels

As long as there is cross lacing on at least one side of the hub, it doesn't matter which side is done. The hub is completely rigid, and any torque is transferred to the other side. My ZIPP 101 rear wheel is laced radial on the drive side and 1X on the non drive side, and works just fine.

Not bad at all. Sounds like a fun day to me.

If the weather where you are is half as nice as Georgia today then you had a great day.

Hope you enjoy Nor-lens. I was thinking of going there for a weekend. Like $8 on the Megabus from ATL.

Thanks, and the weather was nice. It was a little cool and dark when I started, but by halfway I had my arm warmers and vest stuffed in my pockets.

Is your Zipp 101 a disc wheel?

radial lacing a rear wheel on the drive side is the worst idea.

Radial lacing in general was never really a good idea.

Today I chased a group of tweakers who were trying to sell stolen bikes away from the shop wielding a Park PW-4 pedal wrench. I bet they won't be back.

Today I wrote a story about why I signed up for a charity ride. Not that I expect any of you guys to donate, but I am planning on doing this ride fixed!

Hell yeah! If they come back use the Park Tool SR-18 and flog them to death with a short bit of chain (finally a good use for PC-1s?)

Fk yeah vegan cookies and pizza! Fat cyclists unite! My tubby ass will get up that hill for some delicious vegan food. I had a great burrito again (rice, beans, onions, peppers, avocado, guacamole, green onions, corn, mango salsa and a bit of pico) with that Vidalia onion and Georgia Peach hot sauce after riding most of the way home. Then I just farted the rest of the way ; )

Seriously folks this is probably one of the best hot sauces out there in terms of tons of flavor with enough heat to enjoy. Here is a place online that sells it, though my local burrito establishment has it for use in store:
Georgia Peach & Vidalia Onion Hot Sauce with The Red Velvet Top ? 5 ounce bottle | Peppers

Definitely had to weild the pedal wrench when I worked at a shop by the Santa Monica Pier. There was more than occasional beligerant homeless or crazy person threatening to fight someone at the front counter, me, of my boss. Crazy times.

It's not a burrito if it has rice in it, according to some people.

Best hot sauce ever is Aardvark, think it's a PNW only thing though. It's not overpowering but just enough heat to matter.

Got news for ya about them supposed Georgia peaches...

I've been here since 2002 and have yet to see a single peach growing anywhere in the state.

Well the hot sauce is still damn tasty wherever those peaches are from. All I know is peaches come from a can, they were put there by a man in a factory downtown ; )

That Aardvark stuff looks pretty good I might have to try it.

I was reading the reviews at Amazon and that stuff seems universally loved. Personally, I hate Tabasco, wing sauce, or anything that is heavy on vinegar. The reviews seem to emphasize that it is the opposite of Tabasco, so I'm probably going to give it a shot too.

I love vinegar. I used to not like it but I have started to develop a taste for it. I prefer coconut vinegar which is the way to go. Basically it lends a rich flavor to what you put it in plus it helps smooth things out so you can have a nice hot sauce that is smooth. Kind of like comparing a homebrew 'merican muscle car with a big ole' motor to a finely tuned Ferrari or something. Both can get some serious speed and will be awesome but one will be a bit less harsh with all the power.

My past two annual hot sauces have both had coconut vinegar and they are so good. However I get that some people don't like it and having a good sauce that isn't so vinegary is not bad. I am hoping to do a fruity chipotle sauce this year and really change things up. I am still deciding what fruit to use but I might do mango and pineapple and use a bit of rum as well give it some tropical flare. Most of my sauces were more universal put it on everything, peppers, vinegar, garlic and some herbs and spices but this year I want something different.

Man, I wrote my post poorly. I don't hate vinegar, I just hate hot sauces where the pepper, fruit and herb flavors are lost because of overpowering vinegar, like Tabasco.

I like a lot of vinegars but my favorite is balsamic. I can mop up gallons of that stuff with a good loaf of bread.

Good luck with this years Tropi-sauce.
