Well spoken! I lost mine in 2002 I think but I don't really even remember when it was I just remember it happening and screwing my life up for a while. Thankfully though I have found cycling and tons of really great friends so it helps keep me in a decent mental state most of the time. As I always say s h - t happen life goes on.

My arm hurts but I got one Challenge Gravel Grinder open tubular mounted finally after a few days of wrestling with it and got the other one ready to be finished tomorrow night or wednesday night. I love the tires but man-o-man are they hard to install. I feel like the Strada Bianca were easier and now come off like a dream when I need them to.

I'm contemplating cutting down the hollow axles on my Formula hubs so I can use QR's instead of axle nuts.

Someone talk me out of this.

Care to elaborate? I busted one on Saturday on my JYD. No fun at all walking back uphill.

Paid it forward by giving away one of my almost finished project bikes. A small sized women's Raleigh Sport (Taiwan). Someone needed a bike for his daughter.

I got to help out with our store transfers and then came home with a little energy and thought maybe I should try and wrestle the bead on my Challenge tires again see if what I did on the last one will work here and ended up busting the tube and wanting to throw the wheel and start punching things. I then took a shower and am relaxing catching up on BF before I have to get a small modicum of sleep before heading right back to work.

Today I got depressed when I found out that Chris Cornell has died.

Yesterday I raced a Madison for the first time. Today my legs hurt.

I hate tires.

Yesterday I put new tires, freewheel and chain on the Nature Boy and everything is so silky smooth and quiet.

And a social ride put me at 996 miles for the year. Need to squeeze four more in and I'll be at my total for 2016.

Yesterday I got depressed when I found out that Nicky Hayden (2006 MotoGP world Champion) AKA the nicest guy in the world, was hit by a car while training on his bicycle. He is in an induced coma and "Extremely Critical" condition.

Indeed sad. One of the greats.

On the bright side, Roger Ailes died too.

TMonk 05-18-17 04:20 PM

Taking a long weekend off the bike to visit Mexico City this weekend w my gf, so I smashed myself to bits on the bike before work:

3:00 flat
61 miles
2.5k elevation
215 w AP

Put in a 15' at Fiesta towards the end that was on par with what I aim for on a 2x20' workout, but that was after 50 miles of hard riding. Nice!

Good riddance to a serial abuser of women who destroyed the Republican Party and, with it, American democracy. See you in hell, Rog.

Today I'm waging battle against a cat who keeps digging up my potato and basil beds. First step: cover the beds with screens and pouches of cayenne pepper.

I'm not even seeing evidence that he's using the space as a litter box. I think he's just being a jerk.

I hope God has mercy on his soul, and mine, and yours too.

I don't happen to believe in souls, but, contrary to my previous comment, neither do I believe in retribution, in this world or the next. Furthermore, I believe that inflammatory rhetoric like mine is genuinely unhelpful in bridging the political divide--after all, if Obama or some other icon of the left were to die, plenty of folks would be making comments exactly like mine, and, like me, they wouldn't be reaching anyone who didn't already agree with them.

There's a strong case to be made that Ailes did more than any other single person to bring American politics and democracy to the crisis that we're in today, and both the right and left should be eager to put his legacy behind us as quickly as possible. But the case has to be made with more sensitivity than I displayed, and with more open arms.

I'm just so damn frustrated.

hit a bird (or a bird hit me depending on how you look at it) while riding my bike. Little guy seemed okay because he just kept flying, but it wasn't till I got home did I notice a smear of feathers on the corner of my handlebar bag.

Tires are fine when the bead goes on pretty easy and doesn't pinch the tube. I kind of like putting on tires and especially putting new everything on a new wheel and it is all nice and perfect and ready for fun.

50voltphantom 05-19-17 11:55 AM

I need to start getting rides in that are longer than 40 minutes. Also, I stepped on a scale for the first time since fall and was pleasantly surprised I was under 200lbs.
