I wouldn't buy that as just frame and fork. It isn't a bad color but the reason I would want it is mainly the old Scott Bars because those things are just neat but I wouldn't pay much for them.

Yeah, the shipping rate on its own seems annoying, but this is the correct way to look at it.

The more I look at the cost of groupsets, I'm thinking the same thing.

But the versatility and the 130mm dropouts are throwing me off. Too many options.

I've got track wheels I could respace to 130, just to get the bike on the road quickly, but then would you go with a track specific crankset (like Omniums for example) and throw a new 3/32 chainring on if I decide to go a geared route in the future? Or use a road 1x crankset (like the Sram Force 1) to make that an easier option in the future? :foo:

A little bit of everything hopefully. Some road/greenway stuff and a little off road fun in a nearby state park that has everything from long rolling fire roads to single track. And then if I still have it come next season, a crash course in losing cross races.

I wouldn't use a track crankset. You'll probably find way more chainring options if you go with something that's 130 or 110 bcd.

Definitely get a 1x road crank. You can use it SS or geared.

+1 to this. I actually very recently tried reusing a track crankset I had laying around, when building up my sscx frameset. Not only did it limit me from being able to use the smaller chainrings I wanted for muddy and hilly cross courses, the chainline was absolutely rubbish, not really usable at all. Bought a SRAM Apex1/S350 crankset for a good deal, came with the 42T ring I wanted too, and it's so great. Highly recommended.

Today I did 25 miles on that fatty. :)

My issue with the races is that they're not terribly long, I looked into those a while ago, our salsa rep is an ex-triathlete that got into those

They're definitely interesting and im sure ill participate in something like that in the future, whether its an actual race or something i just start doing solo
