Yep I am done with iOS. Opted to move away from Samsung (have a Note 3 still) and go for just plain Android and no filler. It is a bit of an adjustment as this thing is pretty stripped down but it works really well. Some really cool features and allows me to do things that iOS just wouldn't.

all true.

I've always made it a point to get the cheapest or second cheapest Android phone they have. They're not the fastest and sometimes they don't work great, but they never break. Had my last one for over five years.

I  iOS. Got an iPhone SE and the new standard iPad.

Just called T-Mobile to cancel service on my old Nokia flip phone. The agent almost broke into tears when I told him I had switched to Verizon.

TimothyH 06-10-17 03:01 PM

I was a loyal T-Mobile customer for many years. Their customer service was outstanding.

Verizon became our largest customer and my employer now offers 30% off Verizon services. Couldn't ignore that.

I think all the older engineers at Apple must have quit because the buttons and fonts in the iOS became microscopic a few versions ago. Whomever designs the iPhone interface now clearly doesn't need reading glasses.

Today I decided mini motos are the best brakes and found out locking up both wheels down a 10 percent grade gravel roller is way too satisfying.

coffinjewel 06-10-17 06:45 PM

Today I had my first wipe out. I just finished climbing a steep hill and didn't have very much momentum at the top which caused me to over correct in one direction then the other where I went ass over tea kettle in slow motion right into a nice soft bush laughing the whole way down. I hope the entire busy intersection beside me was entertained by my embarrassing tumble. To think I was just patting myself on the back for my bike handling skills.

speaking of phones this was actually on my way back from getting my LG G4s screen replaced because of being clumsy :notamused:

Tonight (today) I am going out on a solo ride because my friends all suck. Taking the 105 crabon out. Maybe take a few KOM's?

seau grateau 06-11-17 12:00 AM

Went out for a 25mi night ride, felt great. I don't know why I even ride bikes during the day.

30 mile ride for me tonight, and I agree with you. The warm temps and lack of sun is really ideal. The only thing I hate more than a geared bike is a geared bike with a saddle bag. No matter how much I tighten the bag, it still moves, and the contents still rattle around. No KOM's, but 5 PR's on some sections that I have been trying to conquer.

scoho 06-11-17 01:36 AM

Don't worry, I'll take your daytime rides for you. There's nothing better than cruising in the sun all day long. :giver:

I like not having to slather sunscreen over everything. The saddlebag talk got me thinking -- I had an idea a while back for a little roll-up type thing that I'd secure to the saddle rails with a toe strap. Might have to bust out the sewing machine and see if I can make something cool.

I've been rockin' a Nokia smartphone for the past 5 years or so. Does everything I need it to.

Ah, yeah, I'm lucky (or stupid:foo:) that I don't have to deal with that. Would hate it too.

I've had a similar idea, and I've long wanted to get a sewing machine. Hope you make something rad and show us soon. :thumb:

i wear my swift industries sitka bag with my road bike. keep the same things you keep in your saddle with room for your phone, also. can't even feel it when it's on.

TenSpeedV2 06-11-17 10:27 AM

I have a Chrome something or rather bag similar to that. Never got used to wearing it even though it is light and has plenty of room. 99% of the time that I ride I have a bag on me of some sort, from a backpack to messenger to full on cargo bag. Riding without a bag of any type is really nice when you don't get much of a chance to.

TimothyH 06-11-17 03:39 PM

Yesterday I met a guy riding a Windsor Clockwork with 48-17 gearing.

His name is Keith and he said he lives "Down South" on Gulf Coast of Alabama.

62 years old and he was doing a century. Said he does about 15 fixed gear centuries every year. :twitchy:

My parents were holdouts and had a similar experience.

Then they both ended up buying macbooks which were both higher spec than mine because the apple genius suggested it....

I'm surprised you switched to verizon, usually it's the other way around with people choosing to leave the big 2 carriers for a better deal with a smaller one. Did they have a better deal?

I really feel that I'm overdue for a carrier change. Me and the sqrl have been with AT&T since 2007 because of iphone exclusivity and stayed for grandfathered unlimited data. It appears now that unlimited has made a return with the majority of carriers worth their salt. My sqrl receives an AT&T discount through work though.

I just went with Verizon because they seem to have the best nationwide coverage and T-Mobile really stinks in that regard. I h8 AT&T and Sprint is a really sketchy company. Also, I wanted an iPhone SE, and Verizon was the only carrier to offer it for free with a 2 year basic contract, unlimited talk and text and 2Gb data for about $83 / month including all taxes and fees. The reception is very good and reliable, so no complaints. The Nokia was just a backup, but I never used it and reception was terrible, so although it only cost me $450 / year to keep it, I saw no reason to have it since I also have the land line in my house. The odds of my losing or breaking the iPhone are very small, and I'll get a new one a year from now when I renew my contract. My experience with Apple is that they obsolete their products in 4 years anyway, and I've retired my 4 year old iPad Mini as it can no longer run the latest version of iOS, so many Apps do not run properly or sometimes not at all. I have a new iPad that works great for now, but no doubt I'll find myself having to replace it 4 years from now.
