Yep.... Loaded up the panniers with simulated weight and went for a 30 mile ride. Left about 2pm ... lots of wind today maybe caused by the hurricane out off the coast.

On the way back I stopped at my usual spot to take a break before the hill.. Leaned my bike on the 10ft gate. Nephew was driving by and seen me... turned around to see if i was ok .... AND pay me some money he owed me. Talked to him a few minutes about his skool and stuff.. He took off and I was getting ready to take off when the POPO pulled up.. Mind you I'm way off the road which is a 4 lane highway. Stopped at the same place I have stopped at probably 50 times. I even know the previous owners of the property, like 200 acres that was being made into a hunting preserve. This is in the middle of what the locals call 9 mile swamp. Anway... He asked what I am doing "taking a break in the heat"... Who was in that truck that was just here.. "my nephew seeing if I was ok". Can I see your ID "why did I do something wrong?" No but I need to see it"... Hand him my ID stand around for like 10 minutes watching him re-run it through the swipe thingy. Comes back gives me my ID... I say "why did you have to run my ID".. He says "when I see somebody standing outside of private property I stop to find out whats going on".. I say "ummm ok" in almost a smart ass way. He starts to get an attitude "well wouldn't you like me to stop if I seen somebody standing outside of your property". I say "if I saw somebody out in the heat on a bike outside my locked gate I would probably ask if they we ok.... if i seen them leaning there bike on it".. I shrug my shoulder put my hands up and say "I'm on a bike".... like DUH!! What am I going to do.... throw my loaded bike over the 10ft gate, climb over, ride 2 miles back to where they were going to make the hunting cabin (until they diverted a stream got in bit trouble with the environmental people & closed them down). Steal some stuff on my loaded bike, ride back to the gate throw the stuff & the bike over and then climb over (with bike shoes on).. That's what I'm thinking.. LOL .. We do this a couple of more times .. he is getting pissed because I wont agree with him... Finally I decide I didn't want a "ride" anyplace but home on my bike... So I agree with him.. he tells me to get going...

Anyway despite the "fun".... I had a good ride....

I rode my Dummy to the beach with the kayak strapped to the side. Paddled around in the Gulf of Mexico for a while then strapped the kayak back on and went home.

8/21 53 miles
8/23 50 miles
8/27 45 miles

Today’s ride:

Good ride today, out at 7:00 AM. Temp was already 80 degrees and the humidity very high. Met Dick Davidson at 7:15 took the S.W. Trail to Mandarin Estates then on to Panera Bread for breakfast. I had a pastry an Iced Tea, refilled my bottles with ice and water. Did the usual ride through Heathrow then out to the horse farms, saw a group of 8 turkies alomg the road. Turned around at the end of Mallard Rd and headed to Sylvan lake road which is now open then to the Marcum Trail Head then home. Feels like temp was 101 degrees when I got home. The new seat that I bought this week is going to take some getting used to. My sit bones are really sore.
Statistics for: 08/27/2011

 Miles today: 45+
 Mileage this month August: 779+
 Mileage this year: 6979+ (87 % of my 2011 goal)
 Miles needed to hit my 2011 goal of 8,000: 1020 miles
 Over/under riding days 2011 vs. 2010: +13
 Over/under riding days Aug. 2011 vs. Aug. 2010: +1
 Over/under miles 2011 vs. 2010: +2479 miles
 Average miles per ride this month: 52
 Average miles per ride this year: 44+
 Average miles per month through July 2011: 885 miles
 Number of rides over 50 miles this month/total ride days this mo. 12/15
 Metric Centuries this month: 3 ( Metric Century = 100km = 62.2 miles) This year: 19
 I surpassed last year’s total miles (6500) on 8/9/2011
 A 9/10 thousand mile year is not out of reach. I should reach my 2011 goal about mid October.

Tomorrows plan: Rest day

Did 30 miles today including a lap around Stone Mtn. it was my second ride around the mtn since the surgery. A friend of mine caught up with me about half way around and "pulled" me the rest of the way. Thanks John.
I was doing 3 laps around the mtn with no problems before the surgery. Its amazing (and sad ) how much fitness you lose in just 4 weeks when you have to ride the trainer and can't ride on the road.

Did 28 miles Sunday afternoon, temperature, 100 degrees F. with north wind at 10-15 mph. Very dry behind this meandering stationary front, but sun and heat still rough. Still, it's better than 80 degrees with high humidity!

Saturday went on the Gainesville Club's LowBee ride (40miles through Lacrosse a couple times) with my daughters. Riding conditions were AWFUL - it was in the mid80s by 8am, and pin-the-meter humid. Both girls bonked at about 37-1/2 miles, leading me to sprint away to get the car and retrieve 'em before the 14yo had an asthma attack. Pulled 2 solid miles over 20, so that was a good workout.

Traffic was insane today, so Amanda and I missed the start of the VetMed/LowBee ride. We went the route anyhow, but since I didn't want to cross Payne's Prairie into a headwind, we rode it counterclockwise. Halfway down Wacahoota Road we met the bunch going the other way. We averaged 15 for 25 miles, which was pretty good for Amanda. I managed 31MPH for a short stretch on the Prairie. We've gotta work out some alternate logistics for these Tuesday rides, like bringing my bike to work and having Amanda (and Laura if she's game) ride the bus or just ride their bikes and meet me before heading over to the ride start.

Got to start signing up for rides this fall - Tour de Tow in Bartow in September, Santa Fe 55 in October (shameless plug for Gainesville Cycling Festival goes here! ) and the Ride of Your Life metric in November, again down in Bartow. Need to ramp up the training miles between now and then!

Its raining, I'm going for a ride.. I'll report back later.... LOL

After ride Edit: .... Well it had been pouring for about 20 minutes while I was getting ready to ride. I mean it was coming down. But I had planned a ride all day, so I was going to go anyway (no lightning). So loaded up the packages for the post office, put the rain covers on the bar bag & panniers. Took off and never got a drop of rain on me in the whole 29.29 mile ride... That's Florida for you though... The roads weren't even wet.

Rode 20 miles last night. A distant thunderstorm to the east kept me well entertained with a light show second to none. I wish all rides could be this good!

Good ride with the club today. Went 36 at an average of about 17.2,, with several sprints and other shenanigans. Fun! :-) Tack on another 7 getting to and from the ride start/end, and I'd say that was a good workout. Nice cool morning too. I was actually wishing I had the arm warmers on early in the ride.

Nope, not today, not this week, not at all in September or August. Last ride was in mid-July. I have found myself traveling nearly every other week this summer for work, spending half my time in the southwest USA, and cycling just doesn't fit into this schedule anymore. I have taken up running just to keep in shape, and after decades of cycling, found that I am not at all in the shape I thought I was. RUNNING IS HARRRRRRD. Plus it hurts a lot more if you just jump into it after 30 years of nothing but cycling. I've had sore muscles, inflamed achilles tendon, bursitis, and knee inflammation, but that's all in the past now, and I'm actually running pain-free.

The weather held up great except for the last few miles when the storm clouds rolled in but no rain. At 7:00 AM this morning the parking lot at the trail head was full, lots of runners out today.

Rode to Stone Mtn today. No surprise there. Met another cyclist to ride home with. He is 59 and was riding a Fuji Team Issue bike that he uses for time trials. That should have been a clue. After 2 miles he spotted another (faster than me) cyclist that he said he knew and wanted to catch up with. I bid him farewell and told him to have a safe ride.
Stone Mtn was overrun with people (nice weather plus there was some kind of festival) so I did 1.5 laps. Ended up doing 30 miles.

Yes!! Finally...told hubby to load up the bikes after work. Took the mb as the road bike is still hooked to the trainer for now. Went over to the Rec area near the airport. They've put in alot of roads over there and no traffic. So... I was a little leary, but got on and took off. We probably only did about 3 or 4 miles but there were some pretty good size hills. Rode almost all the way over to SR 40 and back. Kinda slow but boy did it feel good. A little stiff at first. I was a little concerned about stopping but hubby told me to wait until he was off the bike in case I had problems. But, I didn't. Now, sitting with ice on the knee.
I think I posted this in another thread...PT told me on Monday that he's never seen a recovery as fast as mine. Full extension all ready. Now just need to get my strength back. I think this weekend I'll be riding!

9/11 21 miles
9/13 50 miles
9/15 62 miles
9/17 40 miles

Today’s ride:

Excellent ride today, great weather, no rain, clear skis and low humidity good group of riders and the temps were only in the high 80s when I got back. Rode with Dick Davidson and Dan Justice and Dick’s son Chris and the Florida Freewheelers from Sylvan Lake Park north around Lake Monroe then back through Sanford and back to Sylvan Lake Park (40 miles). This was the monthly Freewheeler picnic ride. This was a very fast C group averaging above 17 mph. From Sanford I slowed down and stayed with two riders that had gotten dropped at about the 30 mile mark, and even doing this I still averaged 15.5 mph. They had maps but one rider (named Mo) was pretty close to bonking so I did all of the pulling for the last 10 or so miles. When we got back to the park the picnic chairman had grilled hot dogs, hamburgers and grilled salmon, potato salad and all kinds of fresh fruit prepared for everyone. This was the best group ride that I have attended.

Statistics for: 09/17/2011

 Miles today: 40+
 Mileage this month September: 475+
 Mileage this year: 7547+ (94 % of my 2011 goal) I should reach my 2011 goal by the end of Sept.
 Miles needed to hit my 2011 goal of 8,000: 452 miles
 Over/under riding days 2011 vs. 2010: +12
 Over/under riding days Sept. 2011 vs. Sept. 2010: 0
 Over/under miles 2011 vs. 2010: +2968 miles
 Average miles per ride this month: 47+
 Average miles per ride this year: 45+
 Average ride miles per month through August 2011: 883 miles
 Number of rides over 50 miles this month/total ride days this mo. 5/10

 I surpassed last year’s total miles (6500) on 8/9/2011
 A 10 thousand mile year is not out of reach.

Tomorrows plan: If the weather permits I plan to do at least 50.

When we got back to the park the picnic chairman had grilled hot dogs, hamburgers and grilled salmon, potato salad and all kinds of fresh fruit prepared for everyone. This was the best group ride that I have attended.

Had a great 42 mile ride with John_V and his wife on the Flatwoods Trail. A picturesque trail and a great couple to ride it with.

Yep, Got up and left the house by about 8:15 (which is very odd for me, a morning ride). Rode to town and met my mom and nephew for breakfast. About 15 miles. Nice ride pretty humid, kid of breezy.
