This is from a town where Yuengling is considered too expensive and too high-brow.

...because scooters should be unsafe AND expensive.

No, it's not, it's one of those rare left hand drive bikes. You know for all the lefties out there. You'd think they wouldn't be as rare as they are, but for some reason major bike manufacturers are prejudiced against them and only make very few as a small token pretence that they're not discriminating. If you can get your hands on one, even a crappy used one, chances are you'll find a desperate lefty who'll give you good money for it in a heartbeat. Well, except those lefties that try to "pass" by riding our normal bikes. You'd be surprised, but a fair number of them do that. Almost as many as the gingers who dye their hair so they don't stick out, but gingers trying to blend in are a lot easier to identify by looking for freckles. Hidden lefties, you pretty much have to try tricking them into signing something or throw a ball at them and see how they try to catch it.

Ah, I see how it is. You put that "the photo's backwards" propaganda out there so no one else will try to compete with you for the rare bike and maybe you can get it for cheaper. Typical lefty scheming and shenanigans. There's a reason in latin the left hand is called "sinister".

I might pay $4,800 if it was the original Raleigh from the movie Quicksilver... And Kevin Bacon was included in the auction.

Not eBay or Craigslist, but this RB1 auction is freaking crazy. Are the bidders even glancing at the photos before bidding? It's obviously been wrecked -- there's no way to salvage that frame, right? Closing in on $200 with over two days left -- maybe folks are bidding on it to salvage the (admittedly very nice) components.

https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik/3799325269.html

Hacking the bars and putting on an inappropriate crankset doesn't make a Murray department store junker worth more.

https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik/3799218758.html

A paint-it-black color scheme and narrow profile likewise do not make a boom ten speed any more valuable, even it if was the work of a professional bike builder (which is the implication here).

https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik/3770179289.html

It takes a special kind of Kardashian-esque person (one completely devoid of shame, or just very, very drunk) to ride things like this. Yeeeccccch.

https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik/3781203810.html

"Large frame good for someone 5'10 to 6'2. This bike retailed for about $400." Right.
