Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Here is a collection of my bikes. Past and present...

Currently riding the Trek 1420 and it is probably my favorite bike to date. Shimano 105 components, Thomson stem, specialized saddle, very comfortable and stiff, the cables are even hidden. Its bonded aluminum, I read somewhere that it is actually scandium but im unsure, it sat in a garage unused for 15 years before I got my hands on it... But it pretty much owns any of my other bikes in terms of overall feel. Not a huge fan of the DT shifters but I have no money to upgrade.

This is my winter beater, its an old Giant mtb that I threw a solid fork on and road tires, and has minor tweaks, Its pretty fast and is a fun little bike to ride, epically with clip ins.

This is my old allez at one stage of its life before it got stolen, Had mucho denero into it

This is my Jamis Xenith pro, 105 and Ultegra. deffinitly the most expensive of the fleet, I prefer my trek though but I raced for a few years on this bike, I know the pic is NDS and the stem had yet to be flipped but its all I have. The Rolfs are tubular BTW and were amazing wheels before I crashed the rear and gave up on tubulars.

This is an old Cannondale 3.0 Crit, 105, bike that I rode for about a year, it was a beautiful bike but was a 60 and way to big for me. It was my first foray into real road bikes and I will never ride one of these C-dales again for longer than 10 miles. I thought the seat was made out of steel.

This bike was in the lobby of my building with a free sign on it so how could I resist. Its actually not as bad as it looks either. It says Bennitt on the side and reynolds 501 on the DT. Campy record hubs, 3ttt bars and stem, Campy headset. shimano 600 shifters, RD, and cassette, suntour cyclond FD, and Supermaxi cranks. All old but its kinda of a diamond in the rough.

Time to re-post the allez. Upgraded to Sram Rival shifters/FD/RD/Cassette/KMC Chain an FSA 46/36 crank/External BB/Grey tape (though it looks white)

This might not be the right place to ask this but how do I get these images larger. It is just a cell phone pic but shouldn't be just a tad larger. Thanks and sorry for the newbie ignorance.

As long as you are using a URL and not uploading the pic, just uncheck the retrieve file locally option. If you are uploading pics from your phone, you can't do that unless they are hosted elsewhere.

they are giant ext wheels off the original giant tcr road bike. the "plastic" spokes were the obvious choice to go with the plastic derailleurs, shifters, and brake levers.

i have about $400 in the project. it should be a fun bike for casual and charity rides.
