It's a walmart bike and they call it a GT and call the gripshift a "hand throttle".
It does have a nice low end Suntour Honor RD.

Very bad Bianchi auction

I think they really think this is a bike from 1999 and that it is a Bianchi LandShark and that it is made in "The Italy" and that a size 58 is the size "from the top tube to the middle of the pedal". Yikes.

Any Schwinn dealer that told him it was worth that, was setting him up for a lowball offer when they get desperate. If it was a mens, a HUGE maybe that it might bring that much. Not as bad as some, but everyone with an old Schwinn thinks they're gonna be rich, lol.,,,,BD

My Corvette is looking like a better and better deal all the time. a completely stock men's 1956 Schwinn in about that same shape...

I wonder where the seller found four Schwinn dealers... Aren't Schwinn's primarily department store bikes now? Is the flunky in the bicycle department an antique bicycle appraiser?

That bike might be worth $450 if it was in showroom condition to the right buyer... worth considerably less in its current condition and/or to most buyers...

But just like the guy in Harrisburg that is still trying to sell an old 10 speed with Shrader/Presta valves for $350 because he can pick it up with one finger, some people think that they have hit the mother lode... and refuse to let go of their treasure for a lowly sum...

There are schwinn dealers, but they're getting harder and harder to find. We in Houston have ONE, and it's
about a 30 mile drive one way. IE: Not worth visiting with the current gas prices. I went to Chicago in 2004, and the only Schwinn dealer I saw was downtown, and they had no Schwinns inside, save for the ones hanging in the window, which were 70 and older and not for sale. BTW: The Sears tower is REALLY tall, lol.,,,,BD

I dunno if this counts, being that it's not really cranky and vintage, and I was the seller, but.....

I sold a pair of Vuelta Crosser wheels, with I think a BMX rear hub (120 spacing, screw fit for freewheel, no lockring thread), and with a single speed freewheel, for £69. That's the same price as a new set of Vuelta Crossers, according to that thar interweb search engine. I sold a set of Campag hub, Mavic MA40 wheels for less than half that. What is wrong with people?

If the price weren't ridiculous enough, they also give us of three pictures of the same side.

https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bik/199595975.html

$105 for a Murray built Free Spirit? Don't drink and post on craigslist... This bike probably cost like $65 new.

https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bik/199593480.html

Another Murray built Free Spirit: this time the price is even higher - a shocking $130 (why does this one cost more than the other? Lord only knows)

https://denver.craigslist.org/bik/201411769.html
I thought it was bad here in Seattle - this is much much worse - asking $200 for a 3 speed huffy... bad enough? four very blurry pictures to sweeten the deal.

Does anybody know where people pick these prices from? (Do I really want to know?)

Here's a Gitane Tour De France-- Gitane's top model, according to this seller-- in need of restoration, and all he wants is $350.

So I sent him a message about where the TDF stands in the Gitane line-up, along with some realistic pricing info. Here's his response:

You are wrong about the price. A TDF frameset alone in perfect
condition sells for more than than $200 from personal
experience. A SC will sell for more than that, what with the
Campy drop-outs and better craftsmanship on the brazing. If
this bike takes six more months to sell on my store at this price
then so be it. But it will sell for $350 - that's a given!
Interesting...He does know about Super Corsas, and yet he claims to "believe" that the TDF is the top of the line.

Suckerbay, more like.

Then obviously mine (green, equal condition minus wheels and pedals) picked up for $75.00 two months ago must be the bargain of the century. Even if it did try to kill me.

Here's a remarkable bike. I wonder how you get those 36 speeds? 12 x 3? Must be very narrow cogs on that freewheel!

Oh, that's too funny! I suppose that "1" does look sort of like a 7 on the decal, but I suppose the seller figured a powerful engine wouldn't always be obvious at first glance.

The ad also states "Also available two new/never been worn Bell helmets."

Which means they weren't wearing them when they fell on their noggins and thought these POS bikes were worth $75 each ....

I don't know if this is a numbskull seller or just a numbskull product. Is that "seat" made out of cardboard?
