Nice find, HSean. I like old chrome mountain bikes; I just got a chrome Raleigh frame and fork on ebay.

I don't think that I've ever seen a riser bar in a stem like that before.

Now with a son growing like mad, he's going to need something to get started in this whole cycling thing. Spotted this sharp little Radio Flyer tricycle out on the curb - someone's free 'take it' pile. Just needs a little cleaning and he can get working on keeping a high cadence (once he's old enough). At 3.5 months, he's got a little while until he can ride it, but he sure likes the shiny bell!

Unfortunately, it looks like it was ridden by a sweat hog (like me) and the frame may be shot. The price was right, and the components are salvageable, so I took it. I had hoped to save the Shimano 600 headset as well, but there appear to be hairline cracks on either side of the upper cup.

I'll trade it for your Motobecane! :D

He's going to need some spiffy, red wool duds to go with that. ;)

actually, yours looks a bit nicer. what's the rear derailleur? stock on these were mountech's but mine came with a siezed up shimano.

I think the Carter's skinsuit is the right choice for infant tricycle time trials.

;-)

Good going, Dad!

Way off topic, but what gamins systems did you find? Collecting vintage bikes and game systems are my two favorite hobbies!

You sir, are a magician.

Again, I think you know how much I love De Rosas. That one is very, very nice.

HSean 05-20-10 12:26 AM

Gaming systems are A nes, Snes,2X sega gens. the nes has two zappers, 4 controllers and two joysticks lol also had some games. oh and a ps2.

The bike was not from the garbage, I paid 25$ useing my free money from garbage picking usefull things lol
The derailer is a shimano deor. it's still in very good shape. I cleaned the bike today, the only really bad rust spot is on the BB, it's hard to get at, Might have to give it one of them derusting baths, It has white walls on it right now... lol i'll post a picture in "show us your vintage mountain bikes'' when I clean it abit more and assemble.

hahahaa! Flips up to prevent face roadrash. Actually starting to get some teeth already; kid gushes drool in a volume that makes the Mississippi river look weak. Unreal.

Recently picked up this wonderful bike for around $150 which will be this summer's restoration project.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you:

-'83 Vitus 979 Duralinox with full Campy SR and a nice Concor saddle-

http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/3282/img0259t.jpg
http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/1127/img0261rw.jpg

The wheels will be replaced with proper campy/mavic ones, I'll get new cables, lever hoods and a white fi'zik bar tape. I'll also get rid of all the excess stuff that's crammed onto it such as the lock, bell, reflexes and so on. The fork has been replaced with a Conti made from Columbus Matrix, and I hope it's not because the bike was crashed. I know original Vitus forks are a PITA to find, so I might leave it on for now.

I bought this 14 years ago for my sister while she was still pregnant with her first child; it was $5 at Value Village. All 5 of her kids have learned how to ride on it, we just took the training wheels off for my 5 year old niece and she is really tearing it up around the neighbourhood. Needless to say, it is the best $5 I have ever spent.

I just got a call from one of my lawnmower repair customers that he has four bikes for me a Dawes two Schwinns and a Ross that I need to go pick up. I am out of room and haven't had the time to work on these bikes as much as I planned too so I might have to sell some off as is just so they don't sit outside and get weathered, and you know what I still don't have enough bikes LOL:rolleyes:.

Your going to need to extend that garage out about 20' for your inventory...

Chris_in_Miami 05-20-10 08:19 PM

I saw this Panasonic on CL last week and watched the seller drop the price over the weekend. A bit too big for me, but I couldn't say no at the price... It's a mid-80's PT-3500 with lots of period accessories including a rack w/Nashbar trunk (containing a some tools,) a Union generator with lights, and some creepy gel Spenco handlebar sleeves that absorbed water like a sponge as I drove home with it on my rack through a thunderstorm.

I'd love to have a bike like this in my size, I might try to work a trade in the ISO/for trade thread.
