Snagged this diamond in the rough last night............. Early 90's Bianchi Volpe. It's dirty and grimy with a little surface rust on the headset, needs the usual consumables but all the mechanicals work great and both rims are true. Paint is a solid 99% and only the Columbus tubing decal is damaged.

The guy that owns the empty lot next door is a wheeler dealer known locally as "Mr. Haney" (not to his face LOL) and sells a lot of kid's bikes, low end MTB's, lawn equipment, boats and the occasional used car or truck, etc. from it. He also does some scrapping and I give him my scrap metal. I've helped him with a few of his bikes and advised him on what to look for when he's buying bikes and he said if he ever came across something like one of my bikes cheap he'd grab it for me. He snagged this one at an auction, it's way too small for me so I'm going to go through it, service all the bearings, replace what needs replaced and shine and detail it to death then flip it. I can't get over the condition of the paint and decals, it is going to clean up beautifully. The white bar tape is even going to clean up nicely, I'm hoping the brake hoods will too but I have a new set of black hoods I think will work if they won't. If it was about 4 inches taller it would be staying and something else would be getting sold.

Yeah, I keep forgetting I was around when they invented dirt LOL. Speaking of, "Mr. Haney" stopped by today and offered me a late 60's or early 70's 23-inch Schwinn Suburban 5 speed men's bike for free, he was going to scrap it if i didn't want it. It was just a little too good to scrap soooo.....
It's all there and functional except for the tires, the fenders are even straight with no dents or rust. Has a little rust on the chrome parts and the paint is only so-so but the wheels are true, not sure what I'll do with it if anything. I may clean it up, tune it and take care of the tires and tubes then donate it to somebody that needs a bike for exercise because dragging that tank around would definitely be a workout!

Can never have too many groupsets. At least that is what I am telling myself. Recently picked up a Campy Chorus 9 speed groupset including ergopower shifters, sealed bb, chain, brake calipers, crankset, front derailleur and Racing-T rear derailleur. All for $75. At that price I couldn't pass it up so now I have another complete groupset. I must have at 7 or 8 waiting for a frame.

I didn't save it from the dump, but I did catch a sweet deal for what would otherwise probably just rot in a garage. Took it for a spin today, man it is fast! It's SO much lighter than my other two and climbs like a beast!

I found this at a swap meet for $44. Original tires, very low mileage, Suntour Accushift. So far, new tires, one tube and an overhaul in progress. It had some nice accessories including a light set and the genuine Schwinn rack. Plus a an all in one tool in the bag.Reconditioning is about half done so far. Getting the sticky crap off from that duct tape was fun. Paint is real nice though.

How much post do you have left in the seat tube ?

Bikes: A green one, "Ragleigh," or something.
Roadside find from this past weekend, 1995ish Gary Fisher Marlin with a weird hodge podge of older (80's SR wheel set) and newer parts (Deore LX RD, brakes and levers, SRAM trigger shifters, Surly fork, Race Face crank).
Rust frozen chain and thick layer of dust indicates it hasn't been ridden in a year or two, at least. SR suspension seatpost and a nice, clean Scott saddle are the icing on a free cake.

Way too small for me to keep, but I'm having fun setting it and getting ready to sell or give away.

I know; this is a weird one. Somebody obviously spent a few bucks on new parts for this thing not too long ago, but it seems they gave up before they got it dialed in. The brand-new brakes were set up completely wrong, and the (Presta) tubes were sorta just stuffed inside the tires, with stems folded over, not anywhere near the (Schrader) holes.

Great score at a garage sale today. A retired pro cyclist was clearing out all his vintage gear:

I got everything for $25. The Riello jersey and the blue Italian jersey is 80 wool/20 acrylic (is it the national team jersey?)

Here's something I rarely pick up, a french bike. But it had some nice bits, including Campy hubs and skewers, Simplex bar end shifters, nice alloy stem and bars, Mafac brakes in great condition, and Nervar alloy crankset. Even has a nice chrome fork crown. No idea what model this is, but I think it originally came with the bar ends, given the cable stops on the DT. Stamped drop outs and small seat post = something towards the basic end.
I do like white french bikes. They have a way of making them look really sharp.
