Pretty rough cosmetically, but maybe somebody really wants a project. Here's your chance to get one (relatively) cheap. Well, maybe without much competition anyway.

I know this isn't vintage, but Steve Rex makes some beautiful hand-made bikes. At least it's steel!

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bik/3761900317.html
[h=2]STEVE REX STEEL BIKE (61CM) - $820 (lafayette / orinda / moraga)[/h] +-

Powered by LeafletTerms

(Please note, I am in Sacramento--CL made me pick a Bay Area town to post in Bay Area CL.)

This is a veteran hand-made Steve Rex race bike and it kicks ass. Compact frame, measures 61 cm, very adjustable, will suit riders from 6' to 6'4" maybe more.

This bike flies forward with a mere thought. Look at that compact rear triangle...then look again. Slips through the peloton--or traffic!--like a freakin' salmon.

Brand new cables (mechs and brakes). Seat with full--and I mean FULL--anatomic relief. Comfy. (Don't mind that crazy seat angle in the photo.)

Three words for you: Steel. HELLS YEAH.

Details:
Frame: Rex-Welded Steel, handmade. Amazing joins. 61 cm downtube measured center-to-center; compact frame, fits riders as short as 6'0"
Fork: Forté Axis carbon-fiber, aluminum steer tube
Wheelset: Bontrager Race Lite (Front wheel 20 spokes, rear wheel 24 in a 12x12 configuration)
Saddle: Liberator Ti Race, full relief
Seatpost: carbon fiber by LOOK Got legs? Got clip-on aero bars? Three (3) saddle offset positions.
Stem: Forté 125 mm
Headset: Cane Creek
Shifters: Shimano STI Ultegra
Front Mech: Shimano Ultegra
Rear Mech: Shimano Ultegra
Brakes: Shimano Ultegra
Tires Vredstein Forteza SE (160 psi).

--> Please note: new cables and housings are WHITE, not grey as in some photos. No bottle cages or pedals included

This is a *veteran* race bike; it's been around a more than few crits; there is wear to some decals and the paint isn't showroom-perfect. Frame is straight and true--everything works as it should, and boy howdy does it ever. Brand new cables and housings (zero miles!) help. Note: get the cables tightened after about 500 miles/90 days. Yes, they're that new.

Some cosmetic damage to front wheel decal, scratch on headtube and under the left seatstay. As I live in Sacramento, I have taken the bike to be seen by Steve Rex himself; he states the bike is good to race as-is--and he'd be happy to ride it himself (and it would fit him).

Reasonable offers considered, but lowballers and squeezers, please don't bother, save us both the effort--thanks.

But, this bike really wants, wants, wants to be ridden, and Summer Is Coming. So text me at 916.206.5079 or email me, set up a meet. Bring your own pedals and shoes, or bring your SPD shoes, I'll get you set up for a test ride.

Because Steve Rex.

Yeah, not pretty. It'd take a whole lot of a OA bath to get that cleaned up. Like I said, it'd be for someone looking for a big project. Probably not worth it at half the price, but at one time I think there was someone who was really wanting a team fuji don't remember who or the size, but who knows. Maybe someone out there thinks that's for them.

All the works already done on this dropbar conversion. If you can talk him down $50 TO $75 It's a pretty good buy.
No affiliation!

Bridgestone MB 4 - $250 (Lansing)

Hi all,

I bought this 1991-1992 Bridgestone MB4 in September for riding to and from school but have discovered that I dont much like riding during the winter so I dont need an MTB anymore and will just use my road bike in the good weather months. The woman I bought it from was the original owner and the bike had hardly ever been used. Since then it has gotten a few scratches on the front fork and top tube from being parked on campus. However it is still in excellent condition mechanically and visually. Most people tell me they think its a brand new bike.

I converted the bike to road bars with Nitto friction bar end shifters. I have the original straight bar but not the original shifters. The drive train is all original and is a mix of XTS and Deore.
Everything on it works great and it will be ready to ride. I have a lot of extra bike parts laying around so the price of this bike is negotiable depending on what you might want me to include with it. Let me know if you are interested!

[h=2]Handsome Rare Reynolds 531 Clean Tuned Vintage Trek Touring 6'3"-6'6" - $450 (castro / upper market)[/h]

High end 1981 steel-lugged Trek road/touring bike loaded with quality components as well as some new or updated ones, all ready to ride. Handbuilt in the USA with highly regarded, very lively riding, super lightweight Reynolds 531 double butted steel tubing, silver brazed with nice forged Campy drop-outs. With relaxed, stable, touring geometry, this is a very versatile frame, great for commuting, camping, or grocery getting.

Everything has been greased, tightened and adjusted. Newer 700c wheelset with Wolber rims and Shimano 105 hubs spin very true, newer Tektro aero brake levers combined with first generation Dura-Ace brake calipers stop great, quality derailleurs, cassette and bottom bracket run and shift super smoothly. There is nothing crappy or low end on this bike. The only bummer is the top tube has a crimp/dent which often occurs in frames this light but it doesn't affect anything, otherwise paint is in good shape with some scratches but is still very radiant.

Because of the long chainstay length, tubing, & serial number, I am fairly certain this is a pre-curser to the Trek 720 touring bike that was not introduced until 1983, and it is a 710 from 1981 that was built into either a 715, 716, or 719 depending on components at the time (1981) or was bought as a frame & forks only.

This is a very tall boy but doesn't have a long top tube in relation to the seat tube, so as long as you can stand over 34.5", you can ride it but best for about 6'3" to 6'6". $500 with the new Fizik saddle, $450 with a good saddle.

seat tube center-to-center 64cm (25.25")
top tube center-to-center 58cm (23")
stand-over height 34.5" (87cm)
wheelbase 105cm, chainstays 44cm
frame & stays are double butted Reynolds 531
fork is full chrome Tange cro-moly, Japan
dropouts are Campagnolo
eyelets front & rear, rear rack braze-on, water bottle, chain hanger nipple
serial #: 010030

new rear Jagwire brake housing, new Bike Ribbon Professional bar wrap, new Fizik Pavé CX wing flex saddle made in Italy, newer 44cm Syncros alloy ergo drop bars, newer modern Tektro aero brake levers, updated 700c Wolber GTX hard anodized rims with Shimano 105 hubs and Shimano 105 6 speed cassette, Seca 700 x 25mm tires with flat protection system, Dura-ace brake calipers and Dura ace front derailleur, Suntour Cyclone II rear derailleur, Suntour power ratchet downtube shifters, gorgeous polished 172.5 Avocet cranks w/ 52/42 chainrings, Mavic 110mm alloy quill stem, Tange Levin headset, Sugino bottom bracket, SR alloy micro-adjust seatpost, vintage MKS Sylvan road pedals

We are near Church & Market in Mission Dolores and are flexible time wise to meet.
Thanks!

Hey, that was one of mine. I picked it up just around the corner for $75 and in rough shape. Paint is rough, but the frame is structurally sound. Suntour Sprint 12 speed drivetrain (accushift). It had ultegra dual pivot brake calipers. I replaced the stripped seatpost, saddle, stem, brake levers from my parts bin. I repacked all of the bearings and replaced the tires and cable/housing. The wheels are mismatched and the rear had cartridge bearings that probably could use replacing (I greased them). It would be real nice with new rims, brake levers, and maybe a repaint.

But too small for me. At $50 this is a steal.

Maybe if you didn't use a CL posting number to search eBay, you could find it:

I suspect this "crimp" may be related to the non-original fork, as in a front-end collision bending the frame and fork.

The components look nice but I'm not sure if they'd be worth $450 if the frame turns out to be a loss, though...

That crimp was not caused due to the frame being light, it was caused due to a front end accident that totaled the fork which was replaced with the one that's on there now. I knew a guy who rode those bikes that weighed well over 200 pounds and rode the large frames like that one and never crimped the frames. If that Trek is a 760 with the 531p or c tubeset then those were rated for riders less then 180 pounds. But that particular one is a touring frame bike, probably a 715, that used a heavier frame designed for heavy loads capable of around 300 pounds total.

Uh guys, I'm pretty sure this is the dent he's talking about. Still not ideal, but doesn't point to front end damage, more like lock/rack damage.
