Another Eisentraut
Visiting So Cal for the weekend and I did my usual scan of CL and found an Eisentraut in my size, so of course I had to go see....
It's pretty rough as the photos show. Mismatched wheel, scratches, etc. But is mine for a very fair price.
Do you all think the drive train is as delivered? Were these built up by the shops that sold them? Shimano Crane, Suntour, Campy headset. I don't recognize the crank or front wheel-which is allegedly original and came with a matching rear to replace the 27" steely.
Same color as my other one, so I won't be confused when I come to CA and ride with my GF.

wow, a Weyless front hub with skewer...and a dork disc on the rear. That's from ridiculous to sublime. I think the crank is a Mighty Tour, or something like that. Brilliant bike, lose the dork disc quick or it might start feeling angry and attack.

Eisentraut frames are great. Get yourself a decent rear wheel and perhaps a better rear derailleur, and you are in business.

I have a pair of Weyless hubs, lacking one skewer, though; and I don't have any idea how to replace the cartridge bearings, at least one of which sounds dry -- there's a large, almost invisible C-clip involved, but I haven't a clue about how one might remove the axle, preload the bearings, etc. If you want a rear hub to match your front, I might be willing to trade for something juicy (and not a fruit, nor other carnal favors).
We deserve more and better photos -- if you're just going to tease, that's not very nice.

I would consider tossing a lot of those parts, it clearly has seen some low-rent repairs over the years. I am guessing the frame is immaculately constructed and worth a decent set of parts.

Bike came with the original rear wheel. It will be replacing the one on there tomorrow for sure.
Click on the pics to enlarge for now. More when I clean it up a bit.
Paint is very rough. This will be a test for Scratch-X for sure. Lot's of chips too. Not sure about touch-up or treat and seal.

If I remember correctly, you picked up a Wizard recently...and now the Eisentraut. A very nice collection of American classics you are developing.

Cleaned it up today-soap and water only-and changed back to the "original" rear wheel. No more dork disc! All little Goof-Off and the paint scrapes are gone. Looking better and now I see what the future holds.
I think I will retain most of the current parts list initially. My guess is that it was originally built with Campagnolo and this configuration came a couple of years after purchase to ease climbing the steep stuff. The serial number dates the frame to 1975.
RD-Shimano Crane DB110 2nd Style ~1977
FD-Suntour Cyclone ~1975
Crank-Sugino Mighty Tour
Hubs-Weyless Quick release

Stem-SR Soul
Bars-Sakai World Champion
Seat Post-Campagnolo 26.8 mm
Cable Clamps-Campagnolo and Shimano

Did you buy your Eisentraut from Corey at Orange County Bicycle Garage? I was looking at it when he brought it into his shop. I was thinking about adding it to my collection but I became more interested in the 1970 Mondia. Lucky you!
Here are some pics of the OCBG showing your Eisentraut and some of my vintage bikes awaiting service.
Three of my bikes: 1967 Legnano, 1979 Raleigh Competition and 1972 Mondia. I have my bid in on the 1970 orange Mondia.
