Haven't been to this thread in a while. Here is the cat who goes by many names, She-Cat, Bucket, Mitten, Varyushka or Lappa.

Here she is looking dignified:

And here she is whoring herself out. She will intercept you with this when you walk to another part of the house in hopes of exchanging sweet tummy rubs for food.

Blorby is REALLY bad.

We had a cat like that. Well, not really blorby, but she certainly didn't "get" the implied contract about "pethood." She was a fancy-pants "Russian Blue," that we had to sign papers to get from previous owner. She eventually went back to that owner, who blamed all her cantakerous behavior on us, of course. If a cat doesn't want to be a good pet, well, there can be consequences. (Are you listening, Princess??--who is actually a sweetheart of a kitty.)

This is Lily The Cat. She used to sit in front of the mirror and admire herself. Most cats don't even pay mirrors a second glance-

I think she's gotten too refined to get caught looking at herself in the mirror.

This is Finnegan, who firmly believes that everything in the garage must be organized to maximize his space. He'll be 3 years old next week.

And this is Tia, who being an older girl herself, prefers the more classical rides.

I have an amazing cat. Sorry I have not taken pictures. My young niece found the abandoned litter with eyes still closed. They raised them feeding them with eye droppers and small bottles so the first thing he saw when he opened his eyes was a human feeding him. He was the runt of the litter and black. He immediately bonded with me when they gave him to me. I swear this cat sees me as his mother in spite of my sex. He is now getting pretty big and long but not quite full grown. What is amazing is that he has learned how to open doors. If I go into my office and close the door he gets up on his hind legs and puts his paw on the door lever (it is not a knob, but a lever) and pulls the lever down and leans against the door and lets himself in. If a cat can look smug, he does. Learning how to open a door like that requires a goal and problem solving. Then It requires remembering how to do it. He has learned that all of the doors work the same way because he now opens the bathroom door. I have to lock it now to keep him out. He stands outside the door and meows till I come out. I never really knew cats had that kind of ability but I bet other cat owners have seen similar.

My mother's cat has worked out that not only do you need to pull the lever down, but you need to turn the key in the lock first. Thankfully he hasn't quite got the strength in his paws to do that whilst stretched out, but it hasn't stopped him trying.

The feline species is a cunning beast.

They've both since passed on, but in this 2006 photograph Hector the red Abyssinian and Hannibal the Magnificent share a rare snooze together in Hannibal's wheelbarrow. Hannibal is NOT fat in this picture. He was built like a linebacker, with the muscles to go with it. Vintage bike content - the rear wheel is on a c.1989 Trek 950 converted to single-speed, and I was working on a c.1970 Peugeot PX-10 when I took the pic.

Hector's pedigree and looks got him attention from people, and he was a lovely creature, but he had ZERO attention span. Bless his heart. He was fun though, and generally sweet-natured, and surprisingly good with small children.

Hannibal was the master at reading people and approaching them EXACTLY the way they would react to best. I've never seen another animal work a room full of people so calmly and well. He communicated with all the other cats in the neighborhood through the glass doors, leading us to wonder if he really was giving them orders. On numerous occasions we saw him doing the same with raccoons, which only added to his mystique around the house.

Hannibal was also a great boon companion, and there were many gray mornings when his Ur-forest-cat rumbling purr in my lap would do more than anything else to improve my mood. Requiescat in pace, Hannibalissimo.

Reminds me of when the vet told me to give my cat "Pepto-Bismol" to cure a bad case of cat diarrhea and other related stomach problems.....
My cat was small, and never really grew bigger than the size of a large kitten, but Holy Cow, she sure had the super strength to reject the Pepto syrup I tried to give her, even rolled up tight in a blanket with just her face showing, she was able to resist all attempts to feed her the stuff.
After two unsuccessful attempts in a whole afternoon, I just gave up as I thought what the heck was the Vet thinking?, as it seems like minty stuff like Pepto-Bismol is like/taste like Kryptonite to cats, apparently.......
