I never had his breed confirmed - he was actually a shelter cat, acquired as a tiny kitten to be a companion for Hector, my red Abyssinian. It was suggested that there was a Norwegian Forest cat in his background, or maybe a Turkish Van, though in the end he was pretty much Ur-forest kitty, tufts, somewhat slick-feeling fur and all. Huge paws, very calm, very patient, and very, very smart.
Cat names are strange things - he came to me called "Isaac," but I soon thereafter dubbed him Hannibal. He earned the title "The Magnificent" through being, well, Magnificent - he was The Black Death when a rodent invasion spilled over into my apartment from a neighbor's slovenliness, knocking off at least a dozen of the wee beasts. He read people better than anyone else on two or four feet, and always found some way to relate to ANYBODY. This included the quartet of raccoons that hung out on the back porch late at night.
My wife lives by the creed that no cat can only have one name, so over the years he became The General, which led to Generalissimo, which led to the inevitable Hannibalissimo.

He sounds like he was a wonderful being and very similar to Ash.
Always lazing around on his back and same physical characteristics. Ash is a huge snuggle bug and a big old teddy bear at heart, unless it comes to hunting bugs or extreme play-fighting with his sister. It's really funny to hear him jump up a few feet to try to catch some bug that is on the other side of the patio door. When he lands... "THUD!!!"

Quinn would not work with me to get a picture near the bike so I'm posting this embarrassing shot of him.

Well...my shop cat, Naboo, has finally, we think, went home to heaven...during the summer, we let her stay outside...and she has been gone now for two weeks...she was 16 years old...and getting a bit frail, so we believe she simply laid down and passed...and she was happy...outside in the warm Atlanta late summer...just being a cat...
RIP Naboo...while you were an ornery old lady, I will miss having you around in the shop this winter!

Latest addition to the family, just picked him up this afternoon. He was a stray that had been dumped in a graveyard with his siblings.

Finally posting our picture-averse kitty. We got Bijou as a rescue kitty in Luxembourg, she's originally from Portugal and is quite the world traveller.

Thanks NF, it's 90% timing and 10% having a great camera with the capability to shoot a backlit subject indoors with this level of clarity.
