A) Occupation
Electrical engineer, I design radio hardware in cellular telephones

B) Commuting Distance
22 miles round trip

C) When at work I a) shower b) change clothes/clean up c) don't change clothes and hope for the best/clean up
Shower and change into clean work clothes if I ride in the morning. Over the winter I did a bus/bike commute and rode the bus in the morning wearing my work clothes, I would change into cycling clothes for the ride home.

D) Where bike is parked
In the parking lot outside my building in full view of the security cameras

E) Number of years commuting
0.5

F) Year-round/part time commuter
Ask me again in November when I've done this for a whole year.

D) Where bike is parked: in an empty cubicle down the hall from me (have to sneak by security every day)

F) Year-round/part time commuter: Part time. Ottawa is cold in the winter. Part of my ride takes me down a highway with an 80km/h limit, and crappy shoulders, and I just don't trust the drivers around here enough, in the snow. But, even in the summer, I bike probably three or four days a week, and drive if it looks like there's a serious chance of rain (or if I sleep in. ) Since I stow my bike indoors I also don't bike if it's wet in the morning, since I don't want to leave muddy tire tracks in the building (I try to clean up the muddy tire tracks in the kitchen before my wife sees!)

Commute distance: Varies but usually 21 miles RT

I wear regular clothes on my commute. Clean up in office or at the theatre. My job is pretty physical and doesn't usually require that I be "dressed for success". I do leave nice clothes at work for days when they might be needed.

Where bike is parked?- usually in the bike room. see pic below or wherever I can lock it.

How long bike commuting?- since my first job at age 15 (37 years ago).

Year round. Studded snow tires, rain gear. I don't ride when the snow is too deep and the roads are not well plowed. Temperature not usually enough of an issue to stop my riding.

A)Electronics Electrical Maintenance Technician
B)~7 miles (full, when working day shift), ~2 miles (partial, when working nights or midnights)
C)None of the above. I change into my work uniform w/o any kind of cleanup (my job, at a steel mill, is dirtier). When the shift is over I change back into the street clothes, commute home, and shower there. I suppose if I got extremely dirty at work I would shower there first instead of waiting until I got home, but that hasn't happened yet. Also if I was extremely sweaty when arriving at work I may towel off a bit first (probably just my face). I don't sweat a whole lot.
D)In a small entrance building connected to the locker room via an underground tunnel
E)First year doing it regularly (did it but once last year)
F)Yet to be determined... but my goal is to bike as much as possible. I've come to hate driving.
