I have the same rear blinkie and rack bag (PlanetBike SuperFlash and Topeak whatever DXP) - does the blinkie really stay in place for you? I tried where you put it and found it always sags and faces downwards, totally useless.

Love the back bag, I want to find one with the side bags. I have my back blinkie tied up with a piece of lanyard. Otherwise it faces down toward my rear reflector mounted on the bottom of the rack, which makes it very visible too. i would like to find an effective way to keep it pointed toward traffic.

I have the same bag, same light, and same problem. The rain cover makes it worse.

good luck.

This is the whole rig, at least to daycare for my two kids. Soon they'll be too big.

This is the rear lights on the trailer. I didn't like the one light mount in the center, so I used two lights on the stroller bar. Eye level and double the lighting.

This is just the bike

A close up of the front. One light on the bar and one on the fork.

2 little hose clamps on the back horizontal bar of your rack with the SF mounted to the hose clamps. Mount the SF sideways and zip tie it in. Not elegant but it works. Did the same for my headlights since my handle bar is taken up with touring bar bag. Mounted to fork legs if curious...

The Explorer rack comes with a bracket that will hold the BP light. No problem with the angle on mine on that. I have a cheapo back up light on the bag with a piece of closed cell foam to try to keep it pointed up.

Updated picture of mine with the Trekking bars it now weares. That has thrown off my seat adjustment I had just got where I was happy with when it had the risers.

That's it.

Moderator, please lock and close this thread. No bike can possibly compete with this. Especially that Alu Motobecane that's getting so many rave reviews.

Thread over. Fender, a Winner is You!

Can't lock the thread until the Paramount gets properly lavished with praise.

I especially like the red bar tape that matches the red brake pads!

No doubt a top ten (or top five) vintage commuter road bike.

But to be fair, there are so many flavors and styles of commuter bike, and Grim's C-dale is a wonderful example of the unorthodox "everything on the dashboard" mountain bike conversion.

No surprise the Moto SS impressed with its perfect matching of all black components (save silver chainring, which is brilliant too) to an all white frame. Motobecane knocked that one out of the park, IMHO. If I saw that thing on the showroom floor, I'd probably pay way too much for it.

Bikes: Custom True North

Here's my ride. Picked her up here in Taiwan for a very nice price. Crazy the markup that goes into shipping and taxes in North America from here.

KHS F20-T3
Brooks B-17
Ortlieb Messenger Bag

Almost all the other components are stock, other than the handlebars.

Her name is 黑公馬 (hēi gōng mǎ) or Black Stallion in English. Commute is 6 kilometers each way along a nice bike path by a river.

You have convinced me to ask my father to buy me a folder in China when he comes for the wedding in a year. KHS is readily available in LBS? My I can get a Latte for under $125 or something.

Pics of my Uptown 8

Finally got around to taking some (bad) pics of my main commuter. It is basically a stock Breezer Uptown 8 with cork wrapped Nashbar Trekking bars, Brooks B-17 saddle, and Weld basket on the back. I've had it since Christmas and have managaed to put about 3600 km on it so far, almost all of it from my 18 mile (r/t) commute. I only switched to the trekking bars last month, but I really like them. They give me a bunch of hand positions and also a (relatively) aerodynamic position while still giving me the option to ride upright, if I prefer.

I may have posted a pic of this bike (OK, my only bike) before, but I've added fenders, a basket, a new rack and a bag so here it is. We're in Griffith Park, half-way to work.

I know some might laugh at mine being cheap but it serves me quite well(all that really matters to me). Yes I know I only paid like $120 for my Schwinn Ranger a couple years ago but it has served me very well other than the rear bearings going out.

However I think the older rangers are of a lot better quality than the new ones though.

I started out on a ranger. I think the only reason you see so many nice bikes posted here, is because we all turned out to be bike junkies! I know I'm constantly tinkering and upgrading my commuter.

I do not know what they are called exactly. The guy in the bike shop told me they are bullhorns, but who knows???? They were given to me by this old man on my bike path to work who works on bikes like every morning and fixes old bikes for goodwill. All I know is they are old and made from steel AND just perfect for me.
