Bikes: 96 gary fisher 'utopia' : 99 Softride 'Norwester'(for sale), 1972 Raleigh Twenty. Surly 1x1 converted to 1x8, 96 Turner Burner
That is a Softride suspension stem. Very comfortable. Mine came with the bike. If you go to their website they may still have some left. I picked a bronze colored one up. That I'm going to mount on my Raleigh 20.

Well...since recent posts on this forum have redefined what a commuter is, this my "other" commuter. I may not ride it to work or school, but I do ride it to the local pub/pool hall/deli.
Built the frame myself, and slotted the Champion Flyer Special to eliminate "taint" rub.

My work ride
Here's my main commuter ride - Gary Fisher Zebrand.
Bought this in 2001 as a cheap ride to carry my first daughter in a rack seat. Started hauling her when she was about 1. Hauled my second daughter too. Both riding on their own now, the youngest should be kicking the training wheels this spring. Started riding to/from work when I got the GF, as my other bike (QR Kilo Private Reserve) was too touchy for the roads I have to ride on and has no rack points.
My work ride is 10.5 each way - mostly road, though there are some bike trail sides I take when it heats up and I'm seeking some shade.
I Like the bike for how I use it but it's a bit of a pig weight-wise. Have the ride time down to 35 mins. and change on the good days, about 44 mins. with stiff NW winter headwinds. I ride a minimum of 3 days/week. Would love to hit all days but soccer games, wife's racquetball and life's other events conspire to get in the way. I'll take it when I can get it.

Bikes: Some bikes. Hell, they're all the same, ain't they?

Upgraded to B&M lighting, with a D-Lumotec Oval Senso Plus headlight and a Selectra Plus taillight. It's got a Topeak rack and slide-on basket, and I've also got some Trek basic panniers that clip on underneath.
Top it off with MKS pedals and a B17 saddle.
I should've bought this thing two or three bikes ago.

This wasn't from my commute, but my buddy and I were biking around today and came across a furry convention. Can get into a lot more interesting adventures on a bike than a car.

One of them tried to hop on my bike. I had it leaned up against a tree to take pics and he/she? walked over and started to swing their leg over before I pushed him off and yelled at him.

Bikes: Upgraded Scott Sub 20 in silver; Specialized Hardrock Comp Disc 2006 in limited edition Army green; Dahon Curve D3 foldable in white; Dahon MU P24 in blue.
My main commuter these days is my Dahon MU P24.

I have a Cat Eye EL320 in front as a blinker, and a EL170 back-up blinker near the front fender. On the handlebars, I have two Fenix L2Ds on steady. My helmet has a Fenix P2D on steady, and a Sigma red blinker on the back.
The rear red blinkers are a Cat Eye LD610 on the rack and a Maxxon Wireless Brake Light under the saddle.
I commute to work with either a Topeak DXP trunk bag velcro-ed and bungie corded to the Dahon touring rack rack, when I need to carry my DSLR and for light luggage days. And when I need to carry my Macbook, I use a pair of yellow Ortlieb Back Roller Classics.
For mirrors, I use a Zefal Spin on the left side and a Zefal Dooback on the right.
I also have an AirZounds 2 horn, a really critical piece of kit riding on our roads.

Here's my winter commuter, it's a Romic. The road salt and cold weather killed my derailleur setup pretty quickly. I tried a Nexus 7 speed internal hub as well, but the seals were not good enough to keep the bad stuff out, so this bike has become a single speed. I will continue to investigate multi-gear options.

Tour bike gone commuter
I spent months and 1000's of hours deciding on each piece of this baby. I'm living in Germany right now, and already counting on the weather to start changing, so once a week will work it's way up to 5??
It's 18 miles round trip, luckily flat!

My ride. It is a specialized Tricross Comp. Its been my ride since September. Before that I was riding a Norco bigfoot (a nice ride but a little too slow for my taste).

And together, they make an excellent combination for commuting....in fact I now use this setup on all my bikes.
