37F and foggy. Goggles (fog shield) fogged up on the inside so I couldn't really use them at all. Glasses misted over, wasn't the end of the world.

Bikes: Many

I'm a little bummed that I've only put 4 miles on my bike since January 13th. Granted I've been out of town ten of those days, it's just been so treacherous out there since then. I can't remember a winter like this in the 27+ years I've been bike commuting year around. I'm becoming a little piggy.

Nice, but cloudy. ~18F going to work, 30F coming home. Very light wind and little traffic made it a pleasure. Looks like I'll get in 3 out of 5 days riding this week (like last week).

13.4 miles
29.1 mph max spd
14.4 mph avrg spd
55 min saddle time

temps in the teens?
roads dry
traffic very light

in the last 1/4 mile I think I tore or stretched my right IT Band even more. I had to stop pushing with that leg for the last 500 feet. got to work and it feels fine right now. I can walk and sit and I'm all showered and dressed. hoping it doesn't act up during the day. gonna hunt for some ibuprofen ...

I didn't have fun this morning. My neck hurts and don't know what that's from. I suffered.

17F / -8C, calm winds. Whiteface Mountain was bathed in light from the sunrise. It was dramatic. If I had my real camera with me, I'd have taken a picture.

Lately I've been feeling a chill when riding, so I added a fleece layer on top. That was okay but I was sweaty. Normally I just have a thin poly/spandex long sleeve shirt under a nylon jacket.

Hey NYCJohn,
I Google mapped Intrepid Museum .org and took a walk around 12 avenue. Is it a good place to bicycle with what appears to be a bike lane along the docks? Street veiw was taken in the summer so I can only guess that it is a damp cold in the winter with ice?

Here it was -7 on the way in and with the increase in daylight I have removed my helmet light but still use the rear flashy thing.

Fun ride in again. This week has been fabulous. No precip, no wind, few crazies - temps in the 50s in the afternoon. Supposed to change to rain tomorrow but oh well. I had to break out the sunglasses for the first time this year. Two funny incidents this morning. A driver flipped me off as HE ran the red light which I found amusing as I had stopped for my red light, then right after that a dog tried to bite me - passed it and owner before with no problems. At least the owner corrected the dog. It's cute so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt that it was having a bad morning.

Left my truck at the Ford dealer last night for an oil change, so I HAD to bike to work this morning. Fortunately the weather was relatively nice, but I only got to ride one way, since I had to pick up my truck at lunch. That worked out OK, however, because it started raining about noon and was very cold and drizzly during my drive home.

Bikes: "Hildy", a Novara Randonee touring bike; a 16-speed Bike Friday Tikit; and a Specialized Stumpjumper frame-based built-up MTB, now serving as the kid-carrier, grocery-getter.

I'm all dressed to get on the bike, work clothes packed in the trunk bag, and I call the site closure number one last time before leaving... *now* they tell me we're closed?

A balmy 20F this morning. Very light wind at my back.

Skunk! It was waddling through a yard, and I stopped to give it plenty of room as it crossed the street I was on. No cars involved, fortunately. After it was safely across, I started riding again. A woman came out with her dog. I warned her. She thanked me very much and went the other way.

Today is the day of the great blizzard in NYC, but so far it's just wet: low 30s, wet snow, sludge. My new ski mask helped a lot, the wet snow blowing with force at times would be hard to deal with.

i played a game: "Follow the Plow"

tell me about it. I'm about to ride off into the beginnings of this snow storm that's going to turn into a mess. I have to teach an 11 am class but I guarantee they'll cancel at noon and I'll be riding back into 40-50 mph gusting wind and blinding snow. College administrators may be at institutions supposedly founded on scientific reason but when it comes to snow cancellation they don't believe it till they see it.

My weather was boring compared to many of you. Just under 30, no wind this morning. The ride home should see just under 40, no wind.

I can live with that.

This morning was my first commute with my new wheels. Very nice. I put my old tires on them but I think I'm going to look into something a little smoother and skinnier (700 x 38C right now.... considering 700 x 28C).

streets were decently plowed/salted... it was a nice ride but I almost spun out a few times on packed snow/icy spots.

On a sad note... I got bum rushed by a geared rider at a red light... he passed me and I failed to overtake him. He knew how to spin... and how to use his gears. - Happens about once every six months or so. Its the only time I regret riding a single speed.

53 and shorts with a chance of rain. Very little traffic. First ride in since getting sick last week. Nothing better than a morning bike ride to clear the sinuses.
