I am not worthy. 97 degrees is silly. I drove.

Had two different cars pull out right in front of me in the space of 10 minutes. One person looked right at me and apparently didn't see me despite the lime green kit I wore today. The other driver didn't even look at all. I'm not sure who's worse.
Other than that, a nice day. I rode the race bike today and took the opportunity to check out the glue job I did on my new tubulars. Now that I think of it, on the panic stops they felt pretty solid. So I got that goin' for me.
Which is nice.

I think once you're above 35C/95F you're free to complain as much as you want
. I was dripping yesterday on the way home even BEFORE I got on my bike.
Even hotter today. 36C/96.8F in the morning, heading up to 39C/102F right now... 46C/114F with humidity. The aircon in my office doesn't work so well, so it's 30C/86F at my desk. Lovely...

Beautiful sunrise commute (first bike commute ever), with clear skies and about 55F. Was a little cold at first, but quickly warmed up.

Now you are addicted. Sorry forgot to tell you.
No flats, animal attacks or crazy drivers? Nice weather? Dont even sound right. Congratulations by the way, how far is your commute?

This morning was like trudging through 13 miles of soup in Richmond, VA. Fortunately the cloud cover was heavy, which kept the sun from beating down on me. Local weather forecast for this afternoon is showers and thunderstorms with highs in the upper 80s. This could be my first rainy ride home!
Lesson learned today: wet shoes + stock pedals = ridiculously slippery starts. I may have to consider an upgrade.

Weather makes all the difference!
I had been riding off and on and feeling really beat. I was wondering if I was just on my way to becoming a busted up old man! Today, however, it was cool and pleasant this morning. I took off on my bike and discovered all my old strength was still there! I made it to work in record time! Amazing what an effect the heat can have! Think I'm just going to take it easy 'till September or thereabouts.

I didn't get to ride even once this week. MTWT were humid, today was nice but I had the hard task of taking a booze cruise at noon for work. I thought about riding to the boat, but figured I didn't want to be all sweaty since I wouldn't have any place to clean up. And then there was the question of how I'd ride home after a few beers.

Sorry if anyone read this, I didn't think my earlier post from work actually worked.

I had a great day in and a better day on the way home with a tail wind. Low humidity and temp in the 70's.

Tiny little commutes breeze in hot weather (95 degrees, record high). 6 miles round-trip to gym and back, where I rode 24 miles on a recumbent bike, oddly, then 2.4 miles round trip to work, night time on way back.
As I tell everyone who asks if I can stand the heat, "it's not hot until I stop." Then suddenly, I start gushing sweat. But I made a promise to myself that after this past winter and a long cold snap that featured below-zero temperatures and no electricity for part of the time, I would not complain about the heat this summer. 95 is fine as long as it's not 10 below. That's not riding weather - at least not until I get some better gear
Spooky part of the day: pedestrian got hit by a hit-and-run driver about 90 minutes after I went through the same intersection.
Hopin' for no rain tomorrow - wanna go to the gym and go shopping.

Had a great ride this morning, although it was a little cool out at 06:45. Did test run to my work which was 7 miles and made there at 07:10. Looking forward to actual 1st commute tomorrow morning. I'm going to leave early enough to hopefully miss the traffic on main intersection.

I've been "commuting" to work for about a month now, not that I can really call it a commute at 0.9 miles, though energy allowing I do take the scenic route home, but normally after 10 hours of labour I'm ready to just get home and sleep all day.
Anyway, at the weekend I bought a rack for my bike, and a cheap laptop pannier, mainly chosen as it was the cheapest available, but also because I'll be commuting to and from Uni starting September. Last night was the first time using my pannier to carry my kit for work and my lunch. For the start of the journey something felt wrong, the ride wasn't right, then it hit me, I didn't have a bag on my back.. I nearly turned around and headed home to get all my stuff, luckily I remembered quickly enough that there was a reason I didn't have my bag, it was all in my pannier.

I lost my rear brake coming in, and when looking at in the dark, the cable snapped at the handle. It's a cantilever brake, so I will be riding my MTB in, until I have a chance to fix it. I packed for rain, but it didn't rain, still better to be safe than have wet clothes to wear. Cooler temps here in the mid-atlantic
between 20C/70F in the morning and upper 20sC and 30C in the afternoon. Rain maybe this afternoon. Yesterday was rain on and off all day, first time for that activity since spring.

Had a good ride home from work last night. That was my first ride in the dark where my lights were actually necessary to make sure I didn't hit anything. It was also my first real ride since the accident on July 28th. Last night was a bit warm. I averaged 12.2 miles an hour which is almost 2 miles an hour slower than I was averaging prior to the crash, but between riding in the dark, and not wanting to push my ankle too hard I wasn't too upset.
This morning I rode into work. Was a bit chilly but after the last couple weeks it felt good to be outside, and not feel like I was in an oven. It was also rather dark this morning at 5:45 so the lights came in handy again. I had a guy on a road bike catch up to me about two miles from work. He was finishing up his morning ride, and asked if I was going to work. I guess my pannier gave it away I'm not a hard core roadie.
Did manage do average 12.9 miles an hour on the way in. Which is, i think, my highest average speed ever on a commute TO work by .1 miles per hour.
In any case it's been good to get back on the bike. While I'm riding my ankle doesn't hurt at all.

almost perfect
Slight drizzle this morning starting out. Just enough to dampen and cool me off. I changed from the touring bike to the hard-tail mtn bike this morning for a change of pace and to break in the new tires. A little slower, but much smoother over the hard-pack. Saw 3 deer this morning. They're calling for rain this afternoon, so I expect the ride home to be interesting.

The biggest change I am noticing lately is the shorter days. The weather gal this morning said we have lost an hour of daylight since June 21. Temperatures are still as hot as ever in NC -- highs in mid-90s or hotter nearly every day and lows in the mid to upper 70s. I am used to the heat but still don't like it, and can't wait for cooler temperatures to arrive. My morning commute today was actually very nice as the humidity didn't seem as high as lately, and I wasn't totally soaked in sweat for a change when I got to work.

Woke up. Checked radar on the iPhone. Uh oh. Lots of red and yellow and other assorted scary colors in a line over the Adirondacks and heading right for us!
I expedited my departure. There was a strong headwind but I didn't get wet. Looks like it's going to rain any minute now.
Some person has kept a sailboat anchored in a place for 2 summers now. It's not an official anchorage area. There's no easy access to the boat except by MUP. This morning the boat was ashore, getting beaten by big waves. (See above: Strong headwind.) It didn't sound so good. I thought about calling the Coast Guard, but they're about a half mile south of the location so I'm sure they're aware of it.

Fine weather, nice ride on the road bike -- until a flat about half way. First flat on the Conti tire mounted last spring. Felt like hitting a rock and getting a pinch flat, tube had a split on one side but a puncture on the other. No damage noticeable on the tire, so I don't quite understand what happened. Tube doesn't look repairable.
Guess I'll be getting a new tube at lunch before commute home.

the heat finally broke here in chicago! this morning's ride with a pleasant 72 degrees and cooling northwest breeze was an all out delight compared to last week's hot & humid sweat-a-thons.

The air felt chilly this morning (12C/54F). There was some heavy cloud blocking the morning sun making it quite a bit darker than usual, so I broke down and threw some lights on the road bike. I feel like such a dweeb now.
