Another nice morning, -6C (21F), windchill -11C (12F), little bit of snow coming down, roads clear and safe to ride on. Overcast though so I didn't get to see the morning glow as I was ending my commute, couple more weeks though and the morning glow will be too bright for overcast skies to hide.

Contrary to dcb23 ^, it is a good thing that winter is slow to leave around here, we received a lot of snow this winter and would be suffering through floods if it warmed up too quickly. On that note, my co-worker told us that last year (on yesterday's date, March 20, 2012), the high for the day was 23C (73F).

It was 28 and windy. I was cold riding in today. I should have worn a warmer jacket. On the other had I made record time as I hit green at 5 of the 6 lights into the office. Made record time and did not even need to work up a sweat.

Legs are supper tired from yesterdays training ride. It felt good to stretch them out.

I had to drive my daughter's car home from downtown yesterday afternoon, so I rode a quick loop around town after work and then loaded my bike in her trunk. The drive home made me appreciate bike commuting all the more, despite the cold temperatures and brutal headwinds we've been having lately. It took me about 15 minutes to get through one crazy 3-redlight section along the route home. The traffic signals are not synched and as soon as one light would turn green the next one would turn red. I ended up getting home about the same time I do when I ride my bike home.

Had a nice bike commute this morning, with the winds at my bike or crosswise most of the way. The ride home should be much tougher, as a strong cold front is pushing through during the day with 30 mph gusts expected in the afternoon and temperatures actually colder than the morning. I am so ready for warmer weather to arrive.

-1° here and we're forecast for ice pellets or even snow tomorrow which should make for interesting times on the roads in the Atlanta area. Cold and rain for the foreseeable future. I'm starting to wonder if this winter will ever end.

Taken this morning.
Yesterday was warmer so the roads are on dry pavement (almost) so I took the chance with my summer bike (on 700x23)
I had a big 20-25 km/h tail wind so this morning was easy but tonight will be hard. You have the St-Paul d'Abbotsdford' mountain (if you want to call it a mountain,it's a few hundred feet high). You also see the bridge crossing the Yamaska river at St-Damase. The sign post marking the midway (I live in St-Césaire and work in St-Hyacinthe. total commute of 27.4 kms)

I remember vividly, I didn't ride last winter so at the same time last year I started my commuting season in short and t-shirt!

third day in a row driving instead of riding (work stuff), though I have to admit it's been sub 30's and windy and I'm really sick of winter weather. Back to the bike tomorrow

Same here. Absolute crap. I've had to drive the last two days. I'll be back on the bike next rotation at least.

Yep, me too. Had to drive today for a business meeting but I'll be back on it tomorrow. I'm also getting a little tired of this winter stuff, especially now that it's "spring". HA!

Overcast, low twenties (Celsius) with very high humidity. Just when I was reaching my neighborhood, I got an emergency call and had to double back to work.

Don't you hate it when that happens!?

Off work today. Went for a morning ride. 18 degrees (Fahrenheit) and some snow. Supposed to be spring.

I was doored four blocks from work today. The driver started to pull away and I flipped out and started punching the hell out of the car until it stopped. I've never lost it like that before. Called the police to file a report and they never showed. After a lot of yelling and talking. We all ended up shaking hands and left. It was my fault. It was their fault. Things happen. My collar bone is pretty swollen but definitely not broken. Be safe people.

oh yeah! 6deg C, sun rising, breaking through the wetland mists. Blossoms are out. Another section of construction on my route is finally finished, giving me another km of fully-separated bike path! Love it.

Woke up in the middle of the night hearing the awnings banging because of the wind, and hoped that the wind would die down during my morning commute. Unfortunately Aeolus (the Greek god of wind) didn't hear my plea!

Left home with a headwind of around 50-60 kph, gusting to well above 70 kph! Extremely difficult to cycle because of the gusting winds which kept kicking me in the gut. Eventually I made it to work, taking nearly twice the time and drenched because of the effort.

Here's a couple of pics when the wind let up enough to keep my balance!

...and here's one from the afternoon ride back; condition a bit worse than the morning commute.

Note: Also took the photos off the B/F server in order to minimize my footprint.

Great commute this morning after the worst ride of the winter yesterday afternoon. I forgot to hang up my base shirt and cycling shorts when I got changed yesterday morning, so my clothes were damp and cold when I get dressed to leave in the afternoon. It was one of the coldest afternoon commutes of the winter, with temps in the low 40s and winds gusting to 30 mph, and wet clothes didn't help. The winds were out of the NW, so that meant I had headwinds almost all the way home.

This morning was a complete reversal in fortune, despite the coldest temperatures in March I can ever remember. It was 23 F when I left my house and didn't warm up any, but the winds had lightened up from yesterday and weren't blowing in my face. For one of my few commutes ever, I made it from my house all the way downtown (13 miles) without catching a single red light. This is remarkable because I pass through about 15 traffic signals on the way there and usually catch at least half of them. Plus, it seems like I usually catch more lights on very cold days. I did catch a couple of lights once I got downtown, but it is virtually impossible to get all greens there because the lights are not synched correctly and there are so many of them. I was quite thirsty when I got to the office because I usually drink while stopped at red lights, but my water bottle was frozen due to the cold.

One other item of note. I passed another cyclist about 6:45 am going the opposite direction who did not appear to be a commuter because he wasn't carrying any gear. It was still dark and the dude was dressed entirely in black with no headlight. I didn't even notice him until I heard him breathing as he was nearly invisible. What a freakin idiot. Did people like this think they have a force shield protecting them?

Glad you're safe and also glad that you had an opportunity to talk to the driver, s/he'll be more careful next time now that they know how serious a mistake like that can be. Keep safe buddy!

A little cooler this morning, -10C (14F), little bit of snow overnight but just a dusting left on the sides of the roads. Forecast to go to 0C this afternoon so I can ditch some of the warmer clothes and open up the windshell a bit, I was lightly sweating when I arrived.
