I sometimes bring lunch to work.
We wash the plastic take out containers,
including the soup containers. Makes good
packaging for work lunches.

I carry lunch every day. Fruit, veggies, meat, leftovers. Each is packed in appropriate container - Tupperware, baggie etc., then placed in a plastic grocery bag and stuffed in the pannier along with the day's clothes. I learned to use the separate bag approach after a lunch leak incident several years ago. A leak may not happen often but when it does you'll be glad you took the additional precaution of the plastic bags.

I carry both breakfast and lunch daily. I like soup and a salad for lunch especially as it get colder. Work provides coffee and tea and water. I do not refrigerate my food on my way to work. When I get to work I do refrigerate my yogurt or anything else I feel that can benefit from refrigeration.

Due to after-work activities, I drive in on Monday. So on Mondays, I haul in the clothes for the week, along with fruit (usually bananas and apples, maybe oranges or seasonal fruit) and hard-boiled eggs. The fruit and eggs go in my lunch bag in the office refrigerator (not because I'm afraid of spoilage, I just like really cold fruit). The rest of the week I bring my sandwich in a snap-top container, carried in my trunk bag. I keep a small cutting board and paring knife (as well as a fork, spoon, and chop sticks for the rare occasion when I bring in something other than a sandwich) in my desk drawer. I also keep a dish cloth in my office for drying the dishes after lunch.

Pack a lunchbox with sandwiches, yoghurt, oat based snack and a pork pie (fine English fare!), make the night before and chill it overnight. Also take small choc milkshake for when I get to work, I find that a little protein helps with keeping fatigue at bay. Can get fruit at work. All packs neatly next to my clothes in my backpack.

I bring lunch every day and whatever it is goes in a pannier. Nothing fancy just one of many cost cutting measures. You really shouldn’t need to worry about refrigeration on the ride.

Bikes: ...a few.

I bring lunch and fruit snacks whenever I ride to work. And yes, tupperware inside plastic baggie in case of spills. I have a few sets of clothes at work that I use. When I drive to work I'll exchange with clean sets.

I bring a lunch whether I bike or drive. Eating bought food every day would kill me, physically and financially.

I totally agree. After I eat a fast food meal, I remember why I don't like to eat there! An apple or orange for morning break. Leftovers for lunch work for me. Plastic containers with good lids or glass container if it's something that I will put in the microwave. I hang a small cooler on the handle bars. I DO put a small blue-ice chiller in there. You guys that aren't using anything...omg. I'm afraid my lunch would crawl off it was not chilled!!!

I have carried lunch. Sometimes just ziplock bags stuffed into a plastic grocery bag. I've carried leftovers in 'tupperware (or facsimile)'.

I've gone to buying groceries and just keeping it in the office kitchen.
I have a fridge and a microwave, so sandwich fixin's and canned soups and such are easy.
This is only shared with like 3 others on my floor.. so it works out OK.

I used to do this regularly, until I started using a road bike to commute and became a weight weenie.

Now I stock up the larder on the occasions I drive, or use the company vehicle assigned to me to grab a bite during my many short drives during the day.

I know, heretical, right?

What gets me is people who bring in something frozen, insist on putting it in the freezer until lunchtime, then nuke it for 5 or 6 minutes to thaw+heat it.

If you'd just put it on your desk, it'd thaw by lunchtime and you could heat it in 2 minutes.

But I have a whole long list of weird coworker behavior that I don't understand, so maybe it's me.

You could use a freeze pack in an insulated bag. That's what I do and it keeps my food cold from the morning until lunch time

I carry lunch nearly every day. Usually I carry my gear in a Carradice seatbag. I load my clothes in it first, then my wallet and eyeglass case, and put the food on top. My lunch is usually a sandwich, apple, yogurt and chips/cookies plus I carry a banana for snack. The sandwich and banana don't get smashed if loaded on top.

Every day. I have an insulated lunch box that I throw in a pannier. I've even been known to strap a box of cupcakes to my rack.

With an ice pack inside, my lunch is nice and cool at lunch time.

I pack a lunch bag. There's a fridge at work that I put it into when I arrive. And a microwave that I can warm up casseroles, etc.

In my cube, I keep a glass dinner plate, large bowl, knife, fork and spoon and we have a kitchen with a washing sink so I don't need to carry anything like that. If I have to carry something in a container, it will generally be a plastic (light) container. Most of the time, I have veggies and hummus with a couple of apples and cheese. I tend to cut enough veggies for 2-3 days, bring enough apples for the same, hummus (bought) will last about a week and a 500gm/1lb block of sharp cheddar will also last a week. Mondays, I'll bring in a bunch of things but Tuesdays and Thursdays, I may have leftovers at work (in the kitchen fridge). I have a Bullet blender at work that I use to make my protein breakfast shake in the morning after I arrive, I'll bring the protein mix about once a month. Whatever lunch I bring, I will put it into a plastic bag in the bottom of my pannier so if it leaks, it won't be on my clothes which tend to be packed on top of the lunch bag.

I once asked my wife if she could pack me lunch. She gave me an empty bag and said bon appetit.

Almost the same MO as me. Even the pound of cheese a week, and my wife wonders why I can't loose weight.

I usually bring salad in a plastic container, yogurt, fruit, and a couple of granola bars, all thrown into a ziplock bag. Aldi has these killer trail mix granola bars that I usually get and keep at work. They're pretty good, and I've been catching them on sale for $1.79 a box for a while.

I usually bring lunch but sometimes "forget" I have it if the cafeteria special looks good. Typical packed lunches for me...
  • 8 oz cottage cheese, a Nature Valley oat&honey bar, an apple, and a square of 72% Ghirardelli. I was doing Greek yogurt + fruit cup for a while but it really doesn't compete with cottage cheese nutritionally.
  • 2 oz hard sharp cheese from the fancy part of the supermarket, 2 oz dry salami, crackers, fruit, Yoplait, chocolate.
  • Leftover pasta & sauce, any description
  • "Mexicali skillet" from a 5-ingredient cookbook - recipe 1 lb 93/7 turkey burger + 1 pack taco seasoning + 1 cup of elbow pasta, cooked + 1 can corn + 1 can petite diced tomato, serving size is about a third of the recipe. Good stuff. If you use 80/20 hamburger then the serving is about 1/4 the recipe instead.
  • Leftover takeout - Chinese, pizza, whatever you got

I was carrying a liter Sodastream bottle of diet cola for a while - not the regular diet but the free/zero alternate flavor. But it seemed to leave my mouth feeling dry and I've cut it out for now in favor of buying a tub of diet Coke at the cafeteria, with a free refill.
