hooray for sarals!!!!good job.

bikethom 08-13-11 04:19 PM

Rode the Chattooga Century, started in Summerville, Georgia, up Lookout Mountain. Was it ever hilly and hot up there! Relaxing with a glass of iced tea at the house now...

Barrettscv 08-13-11 04:38 PM

I was able to save what was almost a total fail of a day. 35 miles in just-under two hours. I finished before the storms arrived.

Congrats.

On top of this morning's club ride, I got another 10 miles in the neighborhood with the wife after dinner. Now for a movie and some pop-corn (low salt and butter).

17 miles today, and I'm starting feel like I did before my crash. My legs are coming back, as is my endurance. I use sprinting and climbing as a gauge - I'll sprint for 300 yards or so, and then judge my recovery and reserves. I do the same thing on hills, hitting it as hard as I can and literally swimming in the lactic acid but not backing off. I'm recovering quicker than I did even yesterday, and I still have legs after the "hammer". My mood is improving daily!!!

Excellent! Glad to see that you are getting back to how you were before the crash. Keep it up and keep us posted.

73 miles with about 5000 ft of climbing. I need to lose some weight big time!

I have not hear of that one---I've done 3 State 3 Mountain that climbs Lookout plus a couple others out there around Chattanooga. I bet it was pretty muggy.

Finally hit the road rather than the MUP. Boy, Michigan roads need work, but got in 14 miles at 14mph. Personal best.

McCallum 08-13-11 06:58 PM

Rode 16.18 miles today; much better than yesterdays ride! I rode 22.7 miles yesterday; the first 11.7 were fun and done at 16.6 mph (fast for this old guy) stopped at a friend's in the small town I had ridden to and talked for an hour (mistake!) started the 11 miles home and ran into rain; not a warm rain mind you a cold soak you to the skin rain! Got home with an avg. of 15 mph so I was happy!

Sculptor7 08-13-11 08:19 PM

26 miles. 32 yesterday. Time to ramp up my mileage if I have any hope of completing a century group ride in September.

JanMM 08-13-11 08:53 PM

An easy 18 miles to and from the heart of the city to take a look at activities surrounding the Belgian Ale Massachusetts Avenue Criterium today. Bike racing in downtown Indy! I didn't stick around long - watched some practice laps. Very cool!

John_V 08-14-11 01:22 PM

Wife and I went to our usual wilderness park bike path to ride this morning. Path is still flooded in several places from last weeks heavy rains so we had to find ways to get our miles in. Several laps up and down the service roads helped. Ended up doing 22 miles with the wife at a much slower pace than what I normally ride, but a ride is a ride, no matter how fast it is.

DnvrFox 08-14-11 01:45 PM

21 miles on the'bent - longest ride so far on the 'bent.

Mon, Michele (a friend), my husband & I did 21 miles after work
Wed, I did my commute to work -15 miles each way.
Today, Michele & I did a very humid 1 1/2 hr mtb ride at a local conservation land park. There were wild flowers galore.

I took a very short solo ride on the tandem to make sure everything still worked as I brought it out of mothballs so my wife can start riding it with me again soon. Everything seems to be OK. The Red Shark will ride again!

I note the stoker pedals removed so that the toe clips won't hit the ground. Solo-riding a tandem is some fun!

Got in about 20 miles today - I think I found most of the 10-20% probability for isolated showers, which shortened the ride. A rear fender would have helped a lot.

I got out with a friend, starting about 7:00 AM, and managed to avoid out-and-out rain in the area, but ran into a lot of heavy mist and occasional drizzle. We took a 35+ mile route from my house near College and 96th, up the Monon as far as it's paved (161st St), over to Union St, up into Westfield, across to the west on roads near Lamong, dropped back south through Jolietville, made our way west to the hills north of Zionsville, stopped in Z'ville for a snack at Eagle Creek Coffee Co., then back east on 116th and down Penn to get home. All before the scattered showers came through.

This was a tandem weekend: Yesterday, 53.4 mi. with omelets and coffee halfway into the ride.

Today a hot, windy afternoon ride of 31.8 mi. I struggled with the middle 10 mi. --I've been riding and training hard since last Sunday and probably should have taken a nap instead of a ride. Overall glad to get the ride in.

jmiked 08-15-11 10:20 AM

I only went about 5 miles this morning before the heat got to me. This video shows most of the route I took, and routinely ride several times a week (I didn’t take the video).

I gave Skipper a call and we did another 22 on the Badger Trail. Unfortunately, Skipper had a "senior":50: moment and commented on how we hadn't been rained on this year!

I've started riding solo again. My very good riding partner is working more and scheduling has been tough.

Perfect weather in the seventies with light 5 to 10 mph winds and low humidity made for great riding. Knowing conditions were good, I hammered hard and did 58 miles in 3 hours, 6 minutes. Pretty close to a personal best.

JanMM 08-15-11 05:22 PM

19.5 miles to and from work today. Just about perfect weather.

DnvrFox 08-15-11 05:27 PM

40 miles - see related thread on MUPS
