20 miles, 67F, sunny, no wind - beautiful ride

I rode 8 miles today with my buddy Skipper. Started out on the badger trail and had to bail as it was too soft. Jan 5th and it was almost 60 degrees! Predicted to be in the upper 30's and 40's for the next week and I still have yet to use my fancy a** new snowblower!:notamused: I guess I'll have to hit the road as it will be a bit before the trail firms up once again.

Unseasonably mild after a few days of cold. Rode a brief 4 miles yesterday evening and then, today, rode 10 miles while it was still daylight and warmish, sorta.
Global Warming or just cyclical seasonal variation? On the two holiday three-day weekends that we just survived, I was able to ride every one of those six days. Not a lot of miles, but highly unusual for Dec./Jan. |
43 miles on the Uriarra loop (http://www.cycle2max.com/bike-circui...).aspx?id=1594) (but counterclockwise) as well as some additional miles up and down Coppins Crossing, and around Belconnen, west of Canberra. A glorious late afternoon ride with a few challenging hills. A screaming headwind appeared with about 10 miles left to go and was an unexpected extra challenge .

No ride Thursday, saw the surgeon for the monthly follow up. He really probed the open wound hard. I went home and laid down for a bit and had some chocolate milk.

23 miles today...much more pleasant. Day started off at 43°F and the ride finished at 53°F.

Weather is beautiful today for January .. Mid 60's. Rode my single speed around the neighborhood and to town and back . Did 15 miles total on this . http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...1/3fb6e9bb.jpg

14.35 miles to my LBS and back Home to have the V-brakes adjusted on my "new to me" Cannondale Adventure 1000. I can adjust the cantilevers but for some reason I do a crummy job on these V-brakes?? This is only my 2nd. ride in 10 weeks, still trying to recover from a "pseudo-gout" flair up in my left knee and 2nd. toe. It's a arthritis that mimics gout, caused by build up of , "Calcium Pro-phosphate" chystals, SIGH. Still very sore but at least now it's just as much pain wither I "ride or walk" so I'll chose to RIDE any day! :)

Gorgeous day with temps back in the low 70's, not much wind and 25 miles of great road bike riding. This is the longest ride I have done, leaning forward, since getting back on the bike a week ago. The first 15 were at my normal riding pace and was only off on my average time by 2 minutes (longer). The next 10 miles were much easier as I didn't want to push too hard and risk injuring the back again. Let's see what this weekend brings.

With temperatures plus fifty on January 6, we had to ride today. My sweetie and I rode the tandem to Hinsdale and had lunch at the Corner Bakery Cafe. It was a great 20 mile round trip, sunshine, light breeze, good lunch.

It got up to 60 in the Ohio Valley and I was there. 22 miles on this thing:

23 miles this morning. Going to take the day off tomorrow since I've biked 11 days in a row.
|
Rode around the neighborhood. The Garmin said I climbed 400' in 10 miles, which makes me appreciate the mileage a bit more if it's true.
|
21 miles in great, unusually warm temperatures (if a bit humid). Planned to go a little farther, but a biological demand about 13 miles out led me back in search of a restroom before I was ready to quit. :twitchy:
I made it OK. :thumb: |
No riding today, darn it! I spent most of the morning at a bike shop getting a Retul adjustment since I have changed a few things on how I ride. Got home and it was really cloudy as if it was getting ready to rain. Put the bike away and still hasn't rained. I should have gone riding.

My 3rd ride of the week. 25 miles on another unseasonably mild day. I'm sure I've never ridden this much in January before this year and it's only the first week!
|
20 miles with a few other folks on a "training ride" this afternoon. Very relaxed pace - no go-fast guys. Sunny and in the 40's. Not used to riding so much in January. Not complaining.
