I rode 45 mi today on the Schuylkill River Trail near Valley Forge National Park. It was a beautiful late spring day, just about perfect for cycling: sunny, temps in the high 60's-to-low-70's, with very low humidity. I expected the trail to be busy, but early-on it was packed--and I finally figured out why. One can ride all the way into Philadelphia on this trail, and there were many cyclists headed toward Philadelphia to watch the TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship bicycle race (see http://procyclingtour.com/ ). At least three groups of 20 or more cyclists, all wearing team or club kit, passed me heading to Philadelphia.
I had a good ride and a good workout. All in all, a very pleasant day to be out riding. |
I rode 63.5 miles at the Fletcher Flyer Metric this morning. It was another perfect day to ride and there were over 1000 participating. After travel, two metrics and limited sleep, I think I need a beer and a nap.

Did you like the ride? I've wanted to try that for two years now but time conflicts always arise. I figure I can drop my wife off at the Biltmore while I'm riding.

Had a pretty good ride this afternoon, head wind headed south was strong but ride-able. It has been mild here since the front came through Thursday night. Lows in the low 60's and highs in the mid-low 80's and the usual humidity isn't here.

47 on the tandem with my sweetie. Slight drizzle and wet roads when we started. Nice ride though. Stopped at one point to lend our vintage Zefal Solibloc pump to a guy who left his pump at home then picked up piece of glass in his rear tire.

Got 14 miles in this afternoon with the wife, rained for about the last 5 miles. First time my wife has ridden in the rain. She can really move when she has to!

25 miles with rolling hills, beautiful roads and no cars.
15.9mph average speed, 73 average cadence. |
4.5 miles around the neighborhood on the Screamer this morning, with the stoker pointing out desirable shrubs to replace the [green boring] yew that I will be feeding to the chipper/shredder soon. We're leaning towards a snowball viburnum.
6.5 miles on my own this afternoon. |
10 miles on the 930 after commuter modifications and overhaul Saturday. Very Nice . 14 miles Sunday.

35˝ miles this morning.

First ride on the road bike since my shoulder injury three weeks ago. Got in a nice 15.25 mile ride at the MUP on the aero bars. I was really surprised at how well the shoulder and arm held up on the ride. It's great to be back in the saddle again. Hoping for a longer ride tomorrow.

7.50 @ 30 minutes. This after working all day, loading and unloading 20 2 CF bags of mulch, moving 4 40 pound bags of dirt. I don't feel tired at all, in fact I feel reenergized.
|
Put in 24 miles this evening after work. Calm winds muggy and about 90 degrees. 168 feet of brutal climbing! :p Hey it's Kansas! Felt good to get back on a training ride after yesterday's mostly day off.
Sunday I bicycled downtown (about 3 miles) to watch the criterium races being held at our River Festival. Good fun! |
10 miles onthe way home after the rain .

John,
Glad to hear you made a return form your shoulder injury. Three weeks can seem an eternity can't it? Monday was an easy out and back day. Weather remains beautiful here, made for a super ride. Pie was enjoyed after dinner, blueberry. Bill |

20 miles before the rains came. All I can say is that it's great to be back riding again.

25.6 mi/15.8mph av/115 bpm av HR (with 6 other oldies) . Wore union flag jerseys on our tandem to celebrate 60 years of our Queen on the throne. Overcast, 80 F and humid. Flat of course.

Put in a nice leisurely 8 mile round trip to the Wichita Riverfest. Shakespeare in the Park was putting on "The Tempest" but with a helicopter buzzing around every couple of minutes it was hard to follow the play. I'll catch up with them at a future performance.
Nice relaxing people watching ride. :D |
