Super SWEET!!!! :thumb: :thumb: With that 32, look out Alpe d'Huez.

Only thing different for me would be cables in front of bars and valve stems at 0600. Could never get used to the cables behind the bars. Felt claustrophobic. Enjoy that beauty.

Thanks! FWIW and IIRC, that FW is a 34. New England is a fairly hilly place. That FW was made necessary by my decision to go with that NR crank which won't go below 42T (well, 41T if you have patience on ebay and lots of money to waste for one tooth). That long cage on the NR RD was made by BF member Henry III. I don't think I'll ever go up Alpe d'Huez but I have ridden this up Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park.

As for the cables, over in the C&V some members make a big deal about routing the cables behind the bar because they are "supposed to" be there. I route them behind the bar for mechanical reasons. The front cable behind the bar has a smooth straight shot down to the caliper, and the rear cable is supported by the bar to keep it from flopping over.

As for the value stems, I have enough other things to worry about! :D

I road my usual 14 mile loop and broke my mph avg on my Cannondale Quick 4 hybrid at 15.8 mph. After loosing 90 lbs. I decided it was time to get back into shape and have been riding(again)for 7 weeks now. Three weeks ago I couldn't touch 13mph avg. Still making minor adjustments on the bike to get a "dialed-in " ride.

The morning weather has been absolutely perfect the past few weeks. 19 mile Kiwanis Coffee Riders group ride. Not too fast, not too slow, topped at 20mph, most of it at 12mph (for the slower riders).

Broke the Allez yesterday. Tried to re-set the front derailleur and the mounting bolt stripped. Humph! I'll try to replace that on Wed when Kiwanis Bikes opens. Hope it's just the bolt stripped and not the threads. A proper height and front-back alignment should help that chain rubbing problem. This is such a fun bike to ride.

Got out this morning to get my fair share of abuse in the heat and humidity - 93 deg at 10 am. 26.6 miles @ 17.6 mph.

Greybeard712 07-21-15 11:26 AM

19.2 :recum: warm miles at an easy 12mph avg. Predicted high today 92°, but it was reasonable at 8am.

51 miles today. Big group ride today, Roscoe, Albert, Bill, Bob, Carl, Rob, Susan, Janelle, Donna, MoMo, Mark, Larry, Ralph, Mitch, and Leslee. I hit the road a little early to get in a few extra miles so I had 10 miles when everyone met at the trailhead. We did the usual ride thru Mandarin and then on to PB for breakfast and coffee with Sandy. The group really rode well on International, staying 2 abreast and controlling the lane. We need to work on changing lanes from the back to the front, we got a little helter skelter at Wayside this morning. The group split into 2 groups on the southbound section of International and while the front group went on to Fox Spur the second group stopped at the Sylvan Lake park office and waited for the front group to return. Several of us stopped at Mulligan's for the $5 cheese burger special on the way home. All in all it was a good ride

My first ride as a 63 year old. Not too thrilled with that but it beats the alternative:P
23.8 miles including an interval workout or what passes for an interval for a creaky old guy.

OldTryGuy 07-21-15 07:09 PM

1st segment of 20 miles. 2nd segment of 45 miles. 3rd segment of 15 miles. Too hot to do a non stop and since this is SW FL, pretty much once you start pedaling there's no coasting because there's no hills.

Biked to Work today. 24 miles total. Planning to do it again tomorrow. Humidity much less this evening than it has been recently and it's supposed to get into the 50's tonite.

I tried and I failed...

I started at Crystal Lake Reservoir at Pikes Peak, made it 7 miles towards the summit then quit. Started off in really decent cycling temps but nearing the tree line the temps were 20* lower and the winds were quit stiff and cold, adding to that I had serious breathing issues. For me, I think I would have to spend a fair amount of time in the area training to believe I would have a chance to make it. My legs did fine I just couldn't get into a consistent breathing rythem. Abandoning the ride will bother me for a while.

I dusted off the http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=466159 Sirrus flat bar for a relative easy 18.5 miles avg 12mph . I already have a patched patch (and maybe one other patch) in the front tube and a micro-leak. It goes flat in about a week but not during a ride. So I just pump it up every time I ride this bike. Got hit by a few large rain drops on the way home from lunch.

33 miles, with my friend Lou, before the rain started. Our summer thunderstorms are usually in the late afternoon. Not sure why they're suddenly morning thunderstorms this year.

Ravenwing 07-22-15 12:57 PM

23.5 miles including some pretty decent hill-work; average speed 15.9 mph. My furthest and fastest to date; pretty pleased. Legs still feel darned good, only issue was my rear getting sort of uncomfortable towards the end...not sure how much further I would have been able to go. Other than when I first started riding, its the first time that's happened. Unsure whether its a seat issue, or just that I need more higher mileage rides to get inured to it. Typically I've been doing 18 miles or so.

bowzette 07-22-15 01:25 PM

an hour on the trainer doing 4x3 max vo2 intervals. I do intervals on the trainer and most of my recovery rides and shorter aerobic threshold rides. Long endurance rides and of course group rides outside.

Beautiful day. Still warm - 86 deg - but much lower humidity. 35.7 miles @ 17.3 mph with 1198' of climbing.

14 Sunny miles. Temp on the trike was 100*F.

My first post on this forum. Rode my home-brewed fixie a few miles this morning, but used my geared bike for a longer ride (about 30 miles) this afternoon. Until the B17 I ordered arrives in the mail, I can't manage more than 10-12 miles on the fixie. Other than the uncomfortable seat, though, the fixie is my bike of choice. I totally love it.

My wife accompanied me on part of the longer ride, on her hybrid. She is recovering from a pulled leg muscle (I'm always pulling her leg about one thing or another). BTW, we are both on the verge of 67.

Welcome to Fifty Plus 50+. We'll need to see some ID, sir.

19 miles today riding to and from work. Took the most direct route both ways. Will take the scenic route home tomorrow.

Another beautiful cool morning for 18.5 @16mph on the Roubaix. Got the front derailleur mounted and properly installed on the Allez with the help of Les at the Kiwanis Bike Program (great people). Also had to string a new cable. It's amazing how well it works when properly installed. No more chain rub.

A good 45 mile ride this morning with a few tag alongs with some of the regulars. Got lucky and missed the heavy rain again but got a little wet from the rooster tails during one of my tag alongs when we hit an area where it already rained.

OldTryGuy 07-23-15 01:44 PM

Hadn't planned on riding at all today since I want to ride with LBS on Saturday and ride a memorial ride for Pete on Sunday; however, rain seems to be in the forecast for this weekend so out I went.

Took 20 miles to finally get the legs warmed up, then another 21 miles a bit faster with some rain sprinkled in for good measure and a finish to home of 29 miles.

So far making good on my commitment that when I ride the Giant, the ride distance has to be my age of 65 in miles or more.

JanMM 07-23-15 07:29 PM

Verrrry nice weather for bike commuting this week. 22 miles today.
