derath that is the logic I used to get my wife to go for the Cycleops as my Christmas gift. May as well get the quality that will last. Instead of cheap that MAY last.
I am happy with my trainer. And use it 3-5 times a week.

Have you tried setting up a satellite stop at work? We do that for a lot of places in the Balto metro area.

What I did last year was to ride all the way to work and forget the train. Whatever I decide I will be on a bike somewhere on my way to work

There should be no need to go to a major staging area. Balto metro will drop off swag at your job site before the event all they need is contact info for someone to take charge of the event. Since your work is in WABA territory try asking there about it. If that fails I could probably swing something for you through BMC. The point to B2W is to try and get others out there riding their bike.

Hello, everyone, well I got my bonus today, woo hoo and took a trip to the local pawn shop to see if the cannondale I've been looking at for the last 10 months was still there, sure enough it was, they wanted $300, I called and offered $150 and It is now mine!!!
I need to add some handlebar breaks and fine tune the derailuers, other than than it is super light compared to a target schwin bike and fast.
Any who, what kind of cannondale is it?? it has everything shimano 600 (dark grey) and says c XXXerium on the seat tube.

Also noracer, any chance you can go early saturday 8-9am??? I can't start 10-11 I have a birthday party in Pa to go to.

About Saturday, I'll have to take a "rain check". The race team is having a training ride and I guess that I better go. It's going to be a 4 hour ride with 2 x 20 minute intervals. Even though I'm suppose to race on Sunday, this is a workout that I shouldn't miss.
So, please, forgive me for skipping out on our ride. I'm sure, due to our proximity to each other and the ability to communicate via this medium, we can arrange another ride in the future. Ok?

Too bad I don't still work in downtown Baltimore, but for the past two years, I've been at Fort Meade. I think we're doing some activities here, though, and in my office of 13 people, there are three fanatic recreational cyclists, a zealous commuter , and one guy who's burned out on marathons and swears he's buying a bike this spring. I imagine some of us will participate.

Ok. My situation [my mind, actually] has changed. Instead of doing a zone 4 training ride with Team BBC, I'm going to get it through the DC Randonnuer ride described as follows:

a.m.

Hey all,
I've enjoyed reading your posts over the past several months but this is the first time I've written in.
I live in Carroll County and just did my first commute to work for this year. I took some pictures of the bike which I'll try and post later. Wanted to take a few pics during the commute but realized I had the camera in the backpack and it was not accessible. Excellent ride into work (Lutherville area). Temps were low but the sun was out. I tried out my new Niterider headlamp that I bought at the bike swap for $40 and it worked great. Hopefully I can get home before it gets too dark. And yes, I did register for Bike to Work day. Thanks for the info.

I'll try to do 20 miles or so local, maybe eastern ave,stemmer run, rossville, rt 1, 20 miles up and back. those 68 miles and 41 mile rides are a little much for me now

Hey Josh, once you get into good enough shape, you should come out and do some of the DC Randonnuer rides with me. You'll have to work up to 100 mile rides on your road bike, but once 100 miles is just another ride, the DC Randonnuer rides are very enjoyabe "tours".

The weather was nice this afternoon. I was out on the B&A from ~3 until 430. Got a nice ride in. Saw someone in Team BBC gear, older guy with full gray beard.
But the ride felt good. I love getting off of my trainer and getting outside

The commute home was good, but took me longer due to the wind coming out of the West and rush hour traffic. Still averaged 16.5 mph. Drivers were pretty considerate which I have found them to be most of the time on my commutes. Started to run out of daylight coming up Liberty Road, but the new headlight worked perfect and I had 2 blinkies going in the back.
Took some pics of the bike at while at work and then some pics while I was on the bike. I posted them here if you're interested. I need practice with the camera as you can tell

My husband and I will be in Towson. I don't work on Fridays but I'll bike to the YMCA that day. Josh, the Cannondale looks nice. I had a similar one that I used for commuting many years ago - mine was from the late to mid 80's.

I love riding in CC, some of the most considerate drivers in Maryland (mostly) and lots of lovely scenery. There is some potential with your camera work. Congrats on the first commute! And congrats on even getting out in the weather, way too many are missing out on this, it really is nice riding weather.

Well I did 20 miles sunday,(in about an hour, wow for me), through old dundalk, then my penninsula,northpoint blvd route (kept close to home as I don't have a back up tube or CO2 pump yet) really not bad on the road bike, the hills that took some out of me on the 1.5" tires on my commuter were nothing compared to 25c tires, riding position also is so much more back friendly, I even rigged on lights to my helmet and bike so I can take this to work tommorow. I hope next saturday I can try to go further.

Weekend ride report:
Yesterday was just raw outside so I decided to spend an hour on the trainer with Coach Troy. So, today I was anxious to get outside and ride for a while. Within 15 minutes I was cursing the wind and cold. I'm so sick of the winter!!! For some reason I kept going. I had no route planned other than I wanted to do at least 32 miles to hit my mileage goal for February.
I saw another rider and caught up to him. He was on a steel Cannondale that looked like it was set up for touring or commuting. I asked him how long he had been out and he said, "I left Bethesda this morning at 7:30." At this point (11:30) we were in Northern Carroll County. His name was Tom and he was with the DC Randoneurs and was heading to Littlestown, PA and back to Bethesda. 125 miles total. Wow. I was totally impressed. We talked a lot about the Randoneurs and road together for 5 or 6 miles before I had to turn off. The story of his trip made my day and gave me a much needed boost to finish my ride, which ended up being 45 miles (I got a little lost).
Meeting other fellow cyclists and learning about what they do is definitely one of the things I like so much about this sport.
