That stuff looks fun.
Wish we had that kind of trails around here.

Night ride in Riverside yesterday. The guy that builds bikes at work gave us a tour of Sycamore Canyon. Good stuff there I didn't know about. Rocks, drops, chutes. It was freakin nice.

Hey, Longbranch to Butter Gap...that's the one that ends/starts by the hatchery right? If yes, then it's all coming back to me...if not...ignore all of my comments! ;)

cryptid01 02-23-08 07:08 PM

Yep, Longbranch has that jump at the trailhead. Butter is the one with lots of hikers, but hopefully if if we keep scaring them, they'll go away.

Cheeto 02-23-08 07:13 PM

LOL! Please do tell how you scare them. I have that problem here, I rounded a corner and almost smacked into a guy and his dog.
Im glad my brakes are touchy.

never 02-23-08 07:24 PM

I was leading on Butter and my philosophy to get rid of the hikers was...just pinner. But seriously, slow down for hikers...I accidentally scared a few but just slowed down, apologized then kept riding. I talk different than everyone around there so they all probably just assumed I was a foreigner and didn't know what the hell was going on, eh.

I was joking, although there have unfortunately been a couple non-optimal user interactions in the past.

It's good practice to slow down and be courteous to other trail users. Are you familiar with IMBA?

Trekbikedude 02-23-08 08:40 PM

trails are too wet to ride, but I got some fsa k force bars today.

Hopefully by doing that, people won't want to close trails to mountain bikers. For whatever reasons there seems to be a stigma, and being courteous and polite with other trail users is one way to get past that.

Cheeto 02-23-08 09:03 PM

I normally yeild to walkers and hikers, but I didn't see him, Luckily he came first though, because right behind him was a fallen tree from the storms. That could of hurt.

@ Hills...

How fast were you riding down that rock hill? Is it possible to ride up it? The trails here at Oleta don't have trails like that. Looks like fun!!!

i was going pretty fast down it. Its really techy and your wheel can easily get snagged up in a gap in the rocks etc. And no, i dont think you could bike up it, the bit pictured isnt the hardest/steepest.

Got out for a great day. Sunny and 62 very nice. We really didn't ride to ride we rode to fish but we still got about 12 miles in so that was nice.

Thats TGMBG,don't mess it up again. Yeah thats bar ends, thas my commuter bike. I don't think it's in the bylaws that you can't run bar ends but when rolling with tha gang, that bike is left at home.

born2bahick 03-03-08 10:20 AM

We had a nice sat, got out for 40 miles of gravel road riding. (trails are way too muddy here) We hit a minimum maintanance road that was a foot of muddy clay, had to hike a bike for about a half mile, but that's just part of the ride. Today's back to 30 and chance of snow.
