We have seen sunshine and 60s here the past 2 days and its supposed to stay the same through the weekend so if I can kick this flu crap and the trails dry out enough for them to open back up I may actually get to ride.
|
^ I'm with you. It's been 94F (heat index of 104F) here for the last couple weeks but this weekend it's supposed to be in the 60's at night and 70's during the day. I just got over being super sick so I'm stoked to ride Sat & Sun!
|
Snuck a ride in between snowstoms. WTF? Back up to 60's later in the week. Also replacing leaky home heating oil tank so my rides have been waaaay shorter but at least I'm still riding. Sorry no pics but I'll get some up soon. Nice pics CCC.

Had my first night ride yesterday. Well, we rode until just past sunset. We almost needed lights but you could still see just enough. I had a TON of fun. I'll definitely be night riding more in the future. Now I just need some lights :\

BIFFERONEY big time. Commuter tires couldn't hold som gravel. ,ow I'm at urgent care for stitches in left knee. Left forearm is going numb ankle is on fire. Crappy day speed kills!
|
^ as the famous Jeremy Clarkson once said "it's not the speed that kills people, it's the coming to a stop that does it."
|
Its not the speed, its the stop!
True wisdom there my fellow rider. The rocks were brutal. Many thanks to my helmet. 11 stitches and a casted ankle and I'm done fer a while.
|
chicks dig scars right? just tape your foot to the pedal and you are good to go.
|
50 miles yesterday in really sloppy, cold weather.

I rode today. On the road. On a road bike. It was fun but there was a killer headwind. Of course just before I turned around, it switched directions :notamused:
|
i didn't ride today, instead i had the urge to draw so i drew on my wall...not sure if i am allowed to do this in terms of my lease too late though. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2647/...a2bf490b4b.jpg

high 50s today, partly cloudy, haven't ridden in a few weeks(sick, work, etc) so even though I woke up later than I was hoping I still made it out for a little over 2 hours of play.
And it was totally worth it(sorry for the cell phone pic, a bit worried about bringing the slr with me) http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u...g?t=1255905705 |
I will actually be able to get a ride in tomorrow, half the trails in the D F Dub area finally opened back up after being closed for nearly a month due to rain. The ones closest to me aren't opened up yet but I don't mind traveling a bit for a good bike ride and to hit a trail I haven't ridden before. Pictorals of said ride to be posted tomorrow.

Going to be another road ride today for me.

I had some fun yesterday. Woke up nice and early and was hitting the trails at 8:05 AM. We rode first up a nice 2 mile climb (about 800 ft elev change) in order to reach a trail named Manzanita. That trail is tight and twisty at the top with a couple of 6-12" drops around rocks and things. It straightens out some and lets you pick up speed. It comes out of the manzanita to a nice exposed cliff side to the right and clings to the side of the hill. It's like that for a few hundred feet before going down an off camber exposed chunk of rock. It's a little puckery - if you miss the trail at the other end, the only way to go is down.
After that, we headed back to the car to meet some people, and started riding up the other side of the canyon for a three mile climb, where we met a few more friends who were riding with us. We did an 18 mile loop, then finished it off with and nice long 3 mile down hill through rock gardens, some small drops, and a cute girl in over her head on the trail but cheering us on as we passed. We ended up with 30 miles and just over 4000 ft of climbing. I went home, had a huge sandwich, some chips and a cookie, cleaned up my Jabber from the days riding, put it on the car and set out to another trailhead to meet a local group. These trails are pretty easy, and the ride was only 10 miles. We got a nice bit of rain mid-ride, which let me try out the cool integrated pack cover in my new Camelbak M.U.L.E NV. It worked pretty well, installed easily, and didn't rip off when I caught the pack on a downed tree that I couldn't get under. All in all, it was a pretty awesome day of riding, and I ended up single speeding 40 miles about 4500 ft of elevation gain :D |
I didn't get my road ride in today. Got out on the mtb for a few hours.
