funny you say that as my last epic ride was 12miles of hell and I just didnt plan on going that far and only brought that one water bottle with me(rest in the truck). Needless to say I am investing in the camelbak finally, however that particular water bottle doesnt taste like horse****.lol

i use a Camelbak but only fill it with water. In my water bottle I keep a diluted bottle of Gatoraid. I also have a water bottle that has a cover so that the nozzle doesn't get any horse **** or mud on it.

The hell part has got nothing to do with it - it's the fact that a 12 mile ride was classified as "epic."

edit: that post evened the score on keyboards I might add.

I know "epic" and 12-mile are not quite the same. I figured if he really rode in hell, each mile must easily be worth 10 times a normal mile.

To each his own. For some people, yeah 12 miles may be an epic, to others it may be 50 miles. It's a subjective term.

I wish...

The pedals are all scratched up, stupid cleats on my shoes, and the cables are all smacked up. I try to wash it after a ride so all the frame does't crap out on me like my other one did... I am kind of anal about cleanlieness of my bike after a ride...

Actually, it's not a 12 mile ride. When the 12 Miles of Hell first started, it was indeed 12 miles. Now I think it's between 17-20. It's probably not what I'd consider "epic" either, but it is very tough. It earns its name.

Thanks. The monkey is more like a gorilla weighing in at a chunky 30 lbs. But I can ride it most everywhere and it doesn't beat the crap out of me like the Cannondale. Still getting used to the whole 29er thing, but I would reccomend it to anyone who is 6'+ tall.

I wouldn't be too worried about 30 pounds since the frame is pretty much indestructable. I have found that to get the 29er light, you need to spend some serious coin on the wheelset / tire combo

ej - If you are talking about the monkey the frameset retails for 425
